Waking up, I blinked slowly, the sunlight stinging my eyes.
I was lying on a wooden bench just outside the Adventurer's Guild. A couple of passersby gave me odd looks, but no one approached. I sat up, rubbing the back of my head. My body felt... fine. No injuries. No dizziness. But something had definitely happened.
"Did I... pass out?" I muttered.
Then, it flashed in front of me.

I pulled up my status, half-dreading what I might see.
What else had changed?

MP: 300 (+25 per level)
Body: 6

Good so nothing really changed on my status. Just added some extra stuff will make it easier. I thought then I decided to check my skill tab.
—[Skill]—
Skill points: 0
[Observe – Level 2]
[Gamers Mind – Level MAX]
[Swordsmanship – Level 1]
[One-Handed Sword – Level 1]
"Good... but those last two were new."
Still, just reading the names told me enough. Swordsmanship was probably the general discipline. One-Handed Sword was likely more about handling specific weapons efficiently, maybe unlocking special moves or techniques with them.

[Materials????] = [Craft]
My Crafting was something I didn't check before, but now seeing it I got curious right now I didn't have anything I could crap with so I would have to wait until I got some materials to experiment with.
I tightened my grip on my pack and turned toward the guild. It was time to check the quest board. Entering the guild hall, I didn't waste time. I headed straight for the quest board, eyes scanning over the rows of parchment nailed to the wood. There were plenty of jobs but I was looking for something simple and manageable for a beginner like me.
He picked two.
Harvest Crimson Herbs from the Eastern Forest – Reward: 1,200 Eris
Clean the Stables – Reward: 500 Eris
I plucked both from the board and tucked them under my arm. Just as I was turning around, a soft chime echoed in my mind, and a familiar blue window blinked into existence in front of me.
Quest added
[Harvest Crimson Herbs from the Eastern Forest]
Objective: gather around 30 Crimson Herbs 0/30
Reward: 2 Skill Points, 1 Random Material Box, 3 gotcha ticket
Quest added
[Clean the Stables]
Objective: clean a certain fuckers stables, so you can get paid
Reward: 2 gotcha ticket
Tucking the parchments away, I moved to the reception desk to officially accept the quests and sign in for them. No need to leave anything half-done.
The receptionist, a bored-looking brunette in her late twenties, barely looked up as she stamped both papers.
"Alright, you're good to go. Crimson Herbs usually grow deeper in the forest, so be careful. As for the stables... they're behind Old Man Geralt's inn. You'll smell 'em before you see 'em."
"Great," I muttered. "Sounds delightful."
She snorted. "Welcome to adventuring, newbie."
With that, I was off again first stop, the stables. No sense diving into a forest without warming up, and besides… it was best to get the shit jobs out of the way early.
Literally.
