"Had I missed the signs that you and Xavier were once close? How did the two of you fall in love?" Seraphina asked.
Seraphina got a chance to pull Selene away while the men spoke to each other.
"Xavier says we were friends in his eyes, and I failed to write to him when we moved away for that little time. Truthfully, Xavier made an offer that I leave Gabriel and be protected by him. I accepted it after I lost Elsie," Selene shared the truth.
"You two did not fall in love and get married? How many know of this?" Seraphina asked, surprised by this revelation.
"You and Agnes are the only ones who know, as far as I am concerned. It did not start as many expected, but I like where we are now. Truthfully, my marriage to Gabriel wasn't one out of love. I needed to be protected, and he seemed to be a good choice then," said Selene.
