In the bedroom, Denji woke up naturally, rubbed his eyes, and stretched lazily before getting out of bed.
After getting dressed and washing up, just as he was about to go downstairs for breakfast, he caught a glimpse of the time in his peripheral vision.
It was already 11:00 AM.
He scratched his head in confusion, unable to figure out what was happening.
Today was supposed to be a workday.
As a Devil hunter for the Public Safety Bureau, he usually gets woken up by Aki at 8:00 AM, eats breakfast, and then heads out for his daily patrol.
Today, he had the rare luxury of waking up naturally. He originally thought he had woken up early.
But instead, he had slept all the way until noon, and Aki hadn't even come to wake him up.
Was today some kind of holiday?
With that thought, Denji wandered around the house, looking for someone to ask.
But the house was empty.
Aki, Power, and the Yamai sisters were nowhere to be found. There was no sign of them in the living room or bedroom.
Could it be that Aki just forgot to wake him up and has already started the patrol, like usual?
That wouldn't be so bad. He'd actually enjoy a bit of a break.
He grabbed some jam and bread from the fridge and walked into the living room, thinking of taking the day off. He started eating breakfast while watching TV.
Doo doo doo doo—!
However, not long after, the sound of the doorbell rang.
"Ah... looks like I can't slack off after all."
Denji had thought it was Aki finally realizing he was missing and calling to get him back to patrol. He reluctantly answered the phone.
However, the voice on the other end was deep and raspy.
"Denji, where are you right now?"
The voice belonged to someone Denji knew well.
When he had just joined the Public Safety Bureau, this voice had haunted him like a nightmare.
Every time it sounded, he would have to endure inhumane torment.
"Hey, what does it matter where I am?" Denji answered, a bit reluctant. "Wasn't the special training over already? I've had enough of those days, don't tell me there's some advanced training or something."
"You want to train? I don't even have time for that," the voice on the other end sneered. "Stop wasting time. Tell me where you are."
"I'm at my house."
"Where are the Yamai sisters?"
"I don't know. They're probably out on patrol already."
"Tsk..."
Denji was even more confused at this point, hearing the annoyed click on the other end of the phone.
"Why do you sound like you're in a bad mood?" Denji couldn't help but ask. "What's going on?"
"If I'm guessing right, the worst has happened," the voice on the other end grew serious. "Stay put at the dorm, don't go anywhere. I'm coming to find you now."
"What happened? Tell me, old man!" Denji furrowed his brows. "Is it related to Aki and the others disappearing?"
"Did you watch the news?"
"No."
"Then I'll make it quick," the voice sped up. "The Gun Devil has been summoned. Makima took most of the Public Safety Bureau's Devil hunters to deal with it, including everyone around you."
"What? The Gun Devil showed up? I need to go protect Makima!" Denji exclaimed.
"The Gun Devil has been eliminated already. It's useless for you to go now." The voice continued. "What I'm about to tell you might change your world, but you need to believe me."
Denji's mouth twitched, already convinced that the old man had drunk too much last night and wasn't thinking straight.
But he didn't hang up and continued to listen.
The voice on the other end then began to explain the full details of Makima's plan.
He hadn't intended to act so quickly. But after seeing the news of the Gun Devil's appearance on TV, he couldn't ignore it, so he contacted Denji immediately.
Just as he had feared.
The Yamai sisters had also been taken by Makima.
On its own, that didn't seem wrong.
In his eyes, the Wind Spirit was already stronger than the Gun Devil. It was easy for them to handle the Gun Devil.
But what made the voice on the other end uneasy was that almost all of the Public Safety Bureau's members had been called in.
If the Yamai sisters were enough to handle the Gun Devil, why then, did they need to send so many Devil hunters?
The only possible explanation was one he could think of.
Makima was planning to deal with the Yamai sisters.
And it was the perfect time.
After they eliminated the Gun Devil, while their strength had yet to recover, she could strike and kill them.
If she took things even further, after defeating the Yamai sisters, Makima could choose not to kill them, but rather control them.
Then, she could command them to attack Denji, making them act uncontrollably.
This way, Makima would be able to force Denji to kill the Yamai sisters himself.
Then, Makima could rightfully complete her plan and break Denji's will, crushing his hope to live.
The more the old man spoke, the more anxious his tone became.
He could only hope that he would be quick enough, to find Denji before the Yamai sisters were controlled, and get him out of there.
But all the information being poured into Denji's mind made his head ache.
"Stop, stop, I don't understand any of this!" Denji rubbed his forehead, confused. "Makima is a Control Devil? Her ultimate goal is to take Pochita's power? And now, she took the Yamai sisters to deal with the Gun Devil to control them and have them kill me? What kind of nonsense is this?!"
"I know you can't understand it all right now, but I'll explain everything in more detail later," the voice said.
"Why are you trying to stir things up between me and Makima? Don't tell me you, this old guy, like Makima?" Denji raised an eyebrow.
Ding dong—!
Just as they were talking, the doorbell rang again.
The sound of the doorbell was so clear that even the voice on the other end of the phone could hear it.
When Denji and the voice on the other end heard the doorbell, their faces both changed.
"Denji, don't open the door," the voice on the other end said, lowering his tone. "Go out the balcony, hide somewhere."
"No way... it's just a coincidence, right?"
Though Denji didn't quite believe the voice on the other end, the sound of the doorbell made his voice shake a little.
His gaze stayed locked on the door, ignoring the voice on the phone, and hung up.
He walked up to the door, his throat tightening, and placed his hand on the door handle.
Turning the handle, he opened the door and looked outside.
"!!!"
At first, Denji had been nervous.
But when he opened the door and was about to see who had arrived, his eyes immediately locked onto the pair of large breasts.
At that moment, Denji's mind was completely consumed by the sight of the breasts, suspended by a thin belt, looking as if they might fall out at any moment.
All his thoughts about the old man's warnings and the news he had just heard were completely thrown out of his mind.
Now, the only thing in his head was two words.
So big!
