Scene 1: A New Dawn, Late to Rise
A soft beam of sunlight filtered through the ivory curtains of the bedroom window, casting a warm glow across the newlywed couple's room. The scent of fresh roses still lingered in the air from the wedding decorations. On the grand wooden bed draped in golden silk sheets, Maryam stirred gently beneath the covers. Her hand reached out instinctively, brushing over Irfan's arm.
She smiled softly. Her eyes opened, heavy with the warmth of a fulfilled dream. Turning towards Irfan, still asleep, she leaned in and whispered, "It's time to wake up, my love."
Irfan didn't budge. His chest rose and fell rhythmically, his face buried halfway in the pillow, completely oblivious to the world. Maryam chuckled softly.
"Oh really?" she whispered again.
She slipped out from under the covers and went to the bathroom. After a refreshing shower, she emerged in a pastel pink robe, her hair freshly washed and damp. She walked over to the bed, sat beside Irfan, and let her wet hair fall over his face like a waterfall.
"Ahhh!" Irfan stirred, his eyes fluttering open, a drowsy smile spreading across his lips. "What a beautiful alarm clock I have…"
Maryam laughed gently. "Good morning, my husband."
"Good morning, my queen," Irfan murmured. He stretched and reached for her hand, but she gently pulled it away.
"Sorry, love, it's not morning anymore." She held up her phone, showing him the time. "It's 12:30 pm."
"What?" Irfan blinked. "But... how?"
Maryam nodded playfully. "Ayesha bhabhi knocked the door at 11:30. I told her we were sleeping."
Irfan sat up abruptly. "Why didn't you wake me up?"
Maryam smiled and shrugged. "We're a newly married couple. It's normal to sleep in late on our first morning."
He narrowed his eyes playfully. "Then I think we should sleep even longer," he said, reaching out to pull her back to bed.
Maryam laughed and dodged his arms. "No! Irfan, stop it! Bhabhi is waiting. And your mom might be there too!"
He groaned dramatically. "You're ruining my romantic morning."
Maryam rolled her eyes but kissed his forehead. "We'll have more romantic mornings. Now hurry up and get ready."
Scene 2: Kitchen Banter and Family Blessings
Thirty minutes later, the newlywed couple emerged from their room, both freshly dressed. Maryam wore a soft blue dress with a light dupatta draped over her head, while Irfan opted for a crisp casual white shirt and jeans. They made their way to the kitchen, the sound of cheerful chatter growing louder as they approached the dining table.
"Finally, the bride and groom are awake!" Imran teased from across the table, lifting his tea cup.
Everyone laughed, including Ayesha, who stood near the stove preparing parathas.
Maryam blushed and lowered her eyes. "Sorry, everyone. We got up late."
"No need to be sorry, Maryam," Ayesha's mother said warmly. "It's your first morning after marriage. May Allah bless your new life with joy and understanding."
"Ameen," the family echoed.
Irfan smiled and joined the table, pulling out a chair for Maryam beside him.
"Have a seat, jaan," he said softly.
Maryam sat with a smile, her cheeks still pink.
Ayesha brought over a large tray of parathas, followed by bowls of chana, omelets, and fruit. The aroma made everyone's stomachs rumble.
"Everything looks delicious, bhabhi," Irfan said. "Thank you."
"Anything for my new sister," Ayesha replied, winking at Maryam.
They all started eating, and the atmosphere buzzed with jokes, laughter, and blessings. The couple sat close, occasionally stealing glances at each other, their connection obvious to all.
After a while, Imran leaned back and said, "So... what's the plan for the Valima? Are we doing it tonight or tomorrow?"
Irfan looked at Maryam, then turned to Imran. "Tomorrow night would be better, bhai. Today we'd just like to rest and spend some quiet time."
"Very sensible," Ayesha chimed in. "You both deserve a day to relax."
Ayesha's mother nodded in agreement. "We'll start preparations tomorrow morning then."
Maryam smiled and whispered to Irfan, "I still can't believe all of this is real."
He gently squeezed her hand under the table. "It's just the beginning, Maryam. Our forever starts now."
Scene 3: Private Moments
After brunch, the family continued chatting in the living room. Maryam and Irfan helped Ayesha clear the table, sharing soft giggles and casual touches when no one was looking.
Later, in their room, Irfan sat on the bed scrolling through photos from the wedding night on his phone.
"Look at this one," he said, turning the screen to Maryam.
She gasped. "Delete it!"
"Why? You look beautiful," Irfan teased.
"I was crying in that photo!"
"That's because you were overwhelmed with love," Irfan said dramatically.
Maryam rolled her eyes and snatched the phone. "Let me see the others."
They spent the next hour going through wedding pictures, laughing and remembering small, funny moments from the previous day.
"You know," Maryam said, "last night felt like a dream. Everything—the lights, the vows, your proposal... I'll never forget it."
Irfan kissed her hand. "And I'll never stop making new memories with you."
Scene 4: Evening Reflections
As evening settled in, Maryam lit a few candles around their room while Irfan sat reading from the Quran, his voice soft and soulful.
When he finished, he looked up and smiled. "Do you want to read together?"
Maryam nodded, and they sat side by side on the prayer mat, sharing a quiet moment of spiritual connection.
After their prayer, Irfan said, "You know, in Islam, a wife is a blessing and a trust from Allah. I pray I can fulfill my role with love and responsibility."
Maryam's eyes glistened. "And I pray to be a wife who brings you peace and strength."
He kissed her forehead. "You already do."
Scene 5: Family Plans and Dreams
That night, as they prepared for bed, Maryam lay her head on Irfan's shoulder.
"What's your dream, Irfan?" she asked quietly.
"My dream is to raise a righteous family, to travel with you for Umrah, to build a home filled with love and barakah."
Maryam smiled. "I want that too. And I want to teach our children everything we learn about Islam and life."
"And I'll tell them the story of the pink dress and the gold ring," Irfan joked.
Maryam laughed. "They'll be embarrassed by us!"
They both laughed together, the sound echoing softly in their new shared world.
And thus ended their first day as husband and wife—filled with love, laughter, prayers, and promises.
