Chapter 175 - The Night of Promise

Scene: The Bridal Room – Quietness and Light

The soft golden glow of the chandelier painted a warm ambiance across the bridal suite. Rose petals were scattered over the white sheets, forming delicate patterns that whispered of love, commitment, and a new beginning. The air was scented with jasmine and sandalwood, chosen deliberately by Ayesha to make the night feel sacred and memorable.

Maryam sat quietly at the center of the bed, dressed in a traditional red bridal lehenga intricately embroidered with golden thread and sequins that sparkled softly under the light. Her hands rested in her lap, adorned with henna that bore Irfan's name hidden among delicate patterns. Heavy jewelry graced her ears, neck, wrists, and fingers. Her long dupatta was pulled slightly forward, draping over her head and partially covering her face. Her eyes were lowered, but her heart was pacing, fluttering like the wings of a butterfly.

She had always imagined what her wedding night would be like. But now that it had come, she found herself breathless, waiting for the sound of the door to open.

Scene: The Groom Arrives – Gentle Moments Begin

Fifteen minutes passed, each second ticking slowly as if the world was holding its breath. Then, the quiet creak of the door echoed in the room. Maryam's fingers tightened slightly on her lehenga as she heard footsteps—measured, composed, yet tender—approaching.

Irfan stepped into the room wearing a cream-colored sherwani, with light embroidery along the collar and cuffs. His hair was neatly set, and his eyes lit up when he saw Maryam sitting before him like a queen waiting for her king.

He paused for a moment, just to admire the sight before him. Then with a slow breath, he moved toward the bed, gently sitting beside her.

He held a small velvet box in his hand.

"Assalamu Alaikum, Maryam," he said softly, his voice filled with emotion.

Maryam lifted her eyes slowly and responded with a soft, "Wa Alaikum Assalam."

"I know you've been waiting," he continued, "and so have I. Tonight, I just want to say something… not as a formality, not as tradition, but from my heart."

Maryam tilted her head, looking toward him through the sheer veil.

"I brought something for you." He handed her the velvet box.

She slowly opened it and found a delicate gold bracelet inside, with the words "Forever Yours" engraved inside the band. It sparkled under the lights, but not more than the warmth that started to rise in her heart.

"Irfan…" she whispered, her voice low.

"I promise," Irfan said, looking directly into her eyes, "I will be with you in happiness and in hardship. I'll stand beside you, support you, and protect you. No matter where life takes us, you will never be alone again."

Maryam's eyes shimmered. She pulled back her veil slowly and looked at her husband fully. Their eyes met—not with shyness now, but with connection, clarity, and trust.

"Irfan," she said gently, "I also promise… I will be with you in every step of life. I will be your strength, your peace, and your support. I will stand with you not just as your wife but as your companion in this journey of faith and life."

Scene: The Bloom of New Intimacy – A Sacred Bond

A soft silence followed, where words no longer carried the weight their gazes did. Irfan leaned forward slightly, gently holding Maryam's hands.

"You are the answer to every prayer I've made," he whispered.

"And you are the reward of every hardship I've endured," she replied.

That night wasn't just about the union of two bodies, but two hearts, two souls that had known pain, loss, loneliness—and yet found each other at the right time.

As Irfan leaned forward, gently kissing Maryam's forehead, she closed her eyes and breathed in the peace of that moment. The world outside no longer existed. There were no memories of sorrow, no burdens from the past—only now, only them.

Slowly, their hands moved closer, and their hearts aligned. Irfan whispered the Bismillah as he gently removed her bridal jewelry, piece by piece, as Maryam remained still, her heart now pounding with a new rhythm—one of love, trust, and desire.

Their breaths grew closer, their hearts racing not with anxiety, but anticipation. And when their lips finally met, it was like the culmination of all the silent prayers they'd once made.

The room, scented with roses and filled with gentle sighs, bore witness to the sacred intimacy that followed. No camera captured that moment. No eyes saw it but theirs. It was theirs alone—unrepeatable, unforgettable.

Scene: Later That Night – A Talk Between Lovers

The night grew deeper, the moonlight bathing the room through the open window. Maryam now lay beside Irfan, her head resting on his shoulder, his fingers entwined with hers.

She smiled softly and said, "I never imagined I would love again… but Allah had written your name with mine."

Irfan kissed her forehead. "And I never imagined I would find a woman so strong, so graceful, and yet so full of noor."

They stayed like that, sharing thoughts, dreams, and whispered du'as. At one point, Maryam asked, "What should we do together first? As a couple?"

"Hajj," Irfan replied immediately. "One day, I want to take you to the House of Allah. I want us to stand together in Arafat and pray side by side. I want our marriage to be not just of this world but the next."

Tears welled in Maryam's eyes. "Then let's ask Allah to bless us with that chance."

Together, they raised their hands and prayed.

Scene: The First Morning – Light After Night

As dawn approached, the faint light began to fill the room. Maryam had fallen asleep in Irfan's arms, and he watched her quietly, holding her gently.

He whispered, "Thank You, Ya Allah, for making her mine."

The birds began to chirp. A new day was beginning, but the story had already changed. Maryam was no longer alone. She was no longer lost. She had become a wife, a partner, a beloved—and in that room, with love surrounding them, a new life had begun.

The night ended, but their journey had just started.
