Seeing the appearance of Mega Gardevoir, Rudy took a deep breath.

The battle had reached a critical point—there was nothing left to do but give it his all!

"Venusaur, use Petal Blizzard!"

"Venuuu!"

Mega Venusaur let out a deep growl as leaves, petals, and blades of grass were swept up by a powerful wind. In moments, a massive twister formed around it before surging forward with incredible force.

Just from the power of this move, Chris could tell how much effort had gone into training Venusaur.

The speed of the move's execution, the density of the swirling petals and leaves—these weren't things that could be improved through Mega Evolution alone.

Rudy must have carefully refined Venusaur's Petal Blizzard.

The Star Moon Gym clearly had skilled breeders when it came to raising Venusaur.

However, no matter how much effort was put into training, it was meaningless in the face of absolute strength!

"Psychic!" Chris commanded, raising his hand.

Mega Gardevoir moved gracefully, vanishing in an instant.

It reappeared outside Petal Blizzard's range—right behind Mega Venusaur. With a single elegant motion, it unleashed a burst of psychic energy.

Shadowy, tentacle-like spikes erupted from beneath Mega Gardevoir's feet, lashing violently at Mega Venusaur's back.

These attacks weren't physical—they were purely psychic and invisible to the naked eye.

Although the attack couldn't be seen, Rudy reacted swiftly upon seeing Mega Gardevoir teleport behind Venusaur.

"Venusaur, use Seed Bomb!"

Mega Venusaur didn't hesitate. It raised its hindquarters, and the large flower on its back fired countless seeds in all directions.

This was an indiscriminate counterattack.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!!!" The seeds exploded midair, creating a barrage of detonations. Any psychic tendrils reaching toward Mega Venusaur were blown away in the chaos.

For a moment, thick black smoke filled the air—though not quite as dramatic as the earlier clash between Aggron's Hyper Beam and Fire Blast.

Yet, within the billowing smoke, there was no further movement.

Then, Mega Gardevoir reappeared in front of Chris, its black gown swaying gently in the breeze. Its arms were crossed, exuding a calm confidence.

Was the battle already over? Had Mega Venusaur been defeated?

As the smoke cleared, the answer became clear.

Mega Venusaur had reverted to its normal form, lying on the ground with spiraling eyes.

It had lost the ability to battle.

"This… this is the end? With just one move?!"

"Didn't Seed Bomb block most of Psychic's power?"

The Gym's disciples stared in shock, unable to believe what they had witnessed.

As for Rudy, he remained frozen in place, his thoughts mirroring those of the onlookers—but for him, the shock ran even deeper.

The Venusaur he had always been so proud of… the Venusaur that had fought back countless times…

Even after Mega Evolution, he hadn't even had the chance to go fully on the offensive.

And yet, it had been defeated in a single blow.

How was he supposed to accept this?

For the first time, the fighting spirit in Rudy's eyes wavered.

Robert, who had been watching the match, let out a quiet sigh.

"Chris's Mega Gardevoir is at the pinnacle of Gym Trainer-level combat. The gap between it and Rudy's Venusaur was simply too wide… and then there's the type advantage as well."

There was no need for Robert to elaborate—the result spoke for itself.

Chris's Gardevoir and Rudy's Venusaur were similar in level, but the difference between them was enormous.

First, Chris's Gardevoir had maxed out its Special Attack through rigorous training. At this level, its Special Attack had likely reached the absolute racial limit for Gardevoir.

Second, Chris had raised Gardevoir using top-tier Pokémon rations, enhancing its overall strength. Compared to Pokémon that hadn't benefited from such nutrition, Gardevoir was at least five levels stronger.

Third, the power boost from Mega Evolution made a crucial difference.

Gardevoir's Mega Evolution pushed its already formidable Special Attack from 125 to an astonishing 165!

On the other hand, Mega Venusaur evolved for balanced growth. Its Attack, Defense, Special Defense, and Special Attack all increased, with a significant 40-point boost in Defense. However, its Special Defense only rose by 20 points.

All these factors combined—the training, the nutrition, and the Mega Evolution—explained why Mega Gardevoir was able to overpower Mega Venusaur so swiftly, even after all of Seed Bomb's detonations.

As Robert said, the gap between the two Pokémon was simply too vast.

"Venusaur is unable to battle—Gardevoir wins!" the referee announced.

Although he was only declaring the result of this round, it also signified the end of the entire match.

A Trainer's ace Pokémon being defeated often meant the battle was as good as over.

Chris couldn't help but feel a tinge of regret.

Sigh... That was too precise, too ruthless. I didn't even get to see what unique techniques the Star Moon Gym's Venusaur had to offer.

He had been hoping to learn a thing or two to help train his own Venusaur. Now, it seemed like he'd have to ask Trevor about it another day.

Rudy's final Pokémon was Shiftry.

As Chris had predicted, Rudy's team was built around a Sunny Day + Chlorophyll strategy. Shiftry's Ability was also Chlorophyll.

Unfortunately, with Venusaur gone, the sunlight had faded, and there was no one left to restore it.

Not that it would've mattered.

Even if Shiftry's speed doubled under Chlorophyll, it still wouldn't be fast enough to evade Mega Gardevoir's attacks.

Dark-types were immune to Psychic moves—but that didn't matter.

Chris simply switched tactics.

Mega Gardevoir's Dazzling Gleam lit up the battlefield, its Fairy-type energy engulfing everything in sight. Shiftry, already at a disadvantage due to its Dark/Grass typing, had no chance. It was knocked out instantly.

Chris could see it clearly—Rudy had already lost all confidence in this battle.

Sending out Shiftry had been a mere formality.

At this point, any Pokémon he chose would have suffered the same fate. It was just a matter of who got sent out first.

"Shiftry is unable to battle—Gardevoir wins!" the referee declared. "Trainer Rudy has lost four Pokémon, rendering him unable to continue. The final winner is… Trainer Chris!"

With that, the match officially ended.

Chris had secured his victory.

More importantly, this was his first win in an official six-on-six battle.
