CAMILLA – POV
I was exhausted physically, mentally, and emotionally drained. My heels clicked angrily across the marble floor as I returned from yet another godforsaken conference. No sleep. No answers. And still no word from Isabella.
She had gone completely off the grid. Her phone rang to voicemail. No texts. No signs. Here I was so excited that I would finally meet with her when Dad told me she was now with her father only to get the news that he had taken her again.
Each passing hour felt like a fuse shortening toward a silent detonation. I was sick of it, I have never been so far away from my best friend for this long.
I never knew how much time we had been so close together, it felt like being punished.
I spent every time texting Marcello to please tell me how she is fairing but he only reads my message with no response.
Frustrated didn't even begin to describe how I felt.
The second I pushed open the door to my office, I nearly turned right back around.
