In the hospital room, Laura lay on the bed, one hand gently massaging her stomach. Her fingers moved in slow, circular motions, her expression joyful as if she had ever thought of having a baby. A bright, almost smug smile played on her lips while the nurse stood beside her, adjusting the IV stand and preparing her discharge notes.
"No caffeine, ma'am," the nurse advised kindly, glancing at the tablet in her hand. "And please make sure to get as much rest as possible. If you feel anything out of the ordinary, pain, spotting, dizziness, report back here immediately."
Laura nodded. "Of course, nurse. I'm taking every precaution." She tilted her head and added sweetly, "My baby daddy will be here soon. Could you wait and tell him to take proper care of me when he arrives?"
The nurse chuckled with a polite but fake smile. "I'll do that," she replied with a slight eye roll once Laura turned her gaze away.
