Chapter 211 - Chapter 211 : Brothers

Kakashi and Jugo stood back to back, panting hard. The fight against the masked man—Obito—was tougher than they imagined. Every time they tried to land a hit, he vanished. Their attacks passed right through him. The problem was to keep on attacking him for 5 minutes straight like how Shika told. Jugo shared this knowledge with Kakashi; however, even after knowing this little hard-to-exploit loophole on this otherwise almost cheat-level technique, they couldn't catch the masked man.

At least not for 5 minutes straight.

"Anything else that brat Shika told you?" Kakashi muttered, frustrated, and his mask of indifference slightly coming off. "It's like fighting a ghost."

Obito too wasn't calm though; someone knowing his technique's loophole was a big deal. Not like he would be losing anytime soon, however, this was enough to make him uneasy, one eye glowing behind the swirling mask. "You can't touch me," he said coldly.

Jugo growled. "Well, Shika said that it's gonna be hard," he said. Jugo remembered what Shika told him and others. "Even if you caught him off guard for five minutes somehow, it might not work. He can come back to life." Jugo recalled that and grumbled under his breath, then glanced at Kakashi. "I have information. From Shika."

Kakashi turned his head toward Jugo with a little irritation, "What now?"

"About his Kamui," Jugo said. "He phases in and out of another dimension—at least Shika believes so. That's how he avoids damage. A part of him will transfer into another dimension."

Kakashi narrowed his eye. "I've seen that before... but how does that help us?"

"We split the fight," Jugo said quickly. "You go into his dimension. Fight him there. I'll fight him here. He can't use the ability in both places at once."

Kakashi hesitated. It was risky. But he understood the logic. Kakashi hesitated entering into a dimensional place like that, but this Kakashi was already aware of the Mangekyo he had, so he was confident that if nothing else, he could find his way back. Somehow.

"Alright. The moment he tries to grab someone—I'm going in."

The next second, Obito dashed forward, aiming for Jugo.

Kakashi's Sharingan spun. "Now!"

As Obito reached out, Kakashi activated his Kamui. A swirl of space-time surrounded him, and in an instant, he vanished—pulled into the same dimension as Obito.

Inside, Kakashi landed on solid ground in a gray, empty world. Obito turned, surprised.

"You followed me…" Obito said quietly.

Kakashi didn't waste time. He attacked fast, kunai in hand, forcing Obito to defend. For the first time, Obito couldn't phase through the attack.

Outside, Jugo charged in again, landing a punch that knocked Obito off-balance.

Now, Obito was forced to fight in both worlds. His Kamui was useless.

The fight had truly begun.

Inside the Kamui dimension, Kakashi fought with sharp focus. His kunai clashed against Obito's. This time, Obito couldn't phase through. Every attack had to be blocked or dodged. Kakashi pressed harder, aiming for quick strikes, keeping Obito moving.

"Who are you?" Kakashi asked with a little astonishment when the one-on-one fighting kept going and he started to see a very familiar figure pulling off similar moves from his past. His breathing became heavy.

Obito didn't reply. He looked calm, but his movements were getting slower.

Outside, in the real world, Jugo took advantage. With his Curse Mark activated, he became faster and stronger. He slammed his fist into Obito's ribs, making him stagger. Before Obito could recover, Jugo kicked him across the field.

Obito's body shook. He coughed, blood trailing from his mask.

Inside the Kamui dimension though, Kakashi stumbled when finally the mask came off.

Obito growled and tried to counter. He charged at Kakashi with a fierce swing, but Kakashi ducked and countered with a precise jab to his side. The blow landed clean, and Obito stumbled back, gritting his teeth.

Outside, Jugo hit again. This time, his punch broke Obito's guard, sending him flying into a wall.

Now, both fights were starting to wear him down. He was breathing harder, slower, and couldn't keep up the timing between dimensions.

Kakashi's mind was a mess seeing this familiar face. "Obito!"

"It's been a while, Kakashi," Obito glared at Kakashi with his single eye.

Kakashi was starting to fall apart. His timing was off. His reactions slower. However, still he was enough to handle Obito while Jugo was not letting him use Kamui.

While this was happening, another fight was going on. This fight was between Itachi and Sasuke. Though calling it a fight wasn't right seeing none of them were using any powerful techniques.

Sasuke and Itachi stood across from each other, the wind blowing between them. Their eyes locked, both filled with emotion. They clashed again, kunai meeting kunai, but neither used deadly force. Their movements were fast, but there was hesitation behind every strike.

"You don't have to do this, Itachi!" Sasuke shouted as he blocked a punch. "You're not their weapon anymore. Come back to the village with me!"

Itachi didn't answer. He stepped back and sent a wave of fire toward Sasuke. Sasuke dodged, barely singed.

"If Danzo really told you then you should know why I can't," Itachi said, his voice cold but shaky. "My place isn't there anymore."

Sasuke kept moving, dodging but never attacking. "You're wrong. You've already paid more than anyone ever should. I'm sure Lady Tsunade could find a way to bring you back."

Itachi clenched his fists. He charged again, but Sasuke didn't move. He stood still and took the hit—a punch to the stomach that made him stagger and fall to one knee.

"Fight back!" Itachi shouted, his Sharingan spinning.

"No," Sasuke said quietly, standing again. His lip bled. "If you want to kill me, go ahead. I won't fight you. 'Cause of someone I know how that will go and I'll not be the only Uchiha left if that's the last thing I do," Sasuke said with determination, though maybe it was because he didn't wish to marry Sakura.

Itachi stared at him, breathing heavy. Sasuke's body was bruised, but he stood strong. Itachi rushed forward one last time—but stopped just before striking.

Silence.

Sasuke looked up. "You're my brother. Come home."

Itachi's hand trembled. He dropped it slowly.

"And who told you that? Was it that Nara?" Itachi asked.

"Ah yeah, something like that." Sasuke pursed his lips. He can't say that it was his future self, can he.

"That's a scary Nara then…"

"Yes… Yes, he is. Haha."
