Screech!
Inside the pumping station, the sounds of aliens being smashed apart and torn to shreds filled the air.
In just a few moments, Logan Sigurd single-handedly slaughtered all the aliens entrenched in the area.
Outside the pumping station, the gunfire from explosive bolt rifles had also ceased, as if everything had suddenly come to an end.
"Pfft! Damn it, I'll never try to look cool by fighting something with corrosive blood up close again."
Logan, whose Titan armor was severely scuffed and scratched, grumbled at an alien corpse nearby. His "flamboyant" personality had led him to remove his helmet and use his fists to take down the aliens.
But now, with his current ragged appearance, he realized returning to the forward base would undoubtedly earn him a scolding from the logistics team. Even as a captain, he knew better than to provoke the quartermasters.
As for the pumping station, it was left in ruins.
The entry gates were smashed in, the walls were pockmarked with craters from his fists, and the metal floor was riddled with acid-burned holes and unrecognizable alien remains.
In the southern corner of the station, seven surviving Colonial Marines and eight others who had been incapacitated and parasitized by facehuggers remained untouched, miraculously spared from harm.
The seven surviving marines, however, were utterly dumbfounded.
Although they couldn't clearly see Logan's combat moves, they had witnessed the afterimages of his punches and the grotesque sight of aliens being ripped apart and crushed.
Was this... still something a human could do?
The Colonial Marines, equipped with exoskeletons and combat mechs similar to Logan's Titan power armor, could understand the armor's incredible defensive capabilities.
But Logan's speed, strength, and reflexes went far beyond human limits.
Was this all due to the armor's enhancements? Or was the armor just a tool, with Logan himself being the true powerhouse?
Outside the station, the survivors could hear occasional metallic curses:
"Damn disgusting creatures!"
"The only good alien is a dead alien!"
The metallic tone and the sheer ferocity of the words made the survivors wary. They feared Logan might suddenly turn on them.
Thud. Thud.
Just then, after venting his frustration, Logan finally approached the southern side of the station.
Looking down at the stunned Colonial Marines, he spoke bluntly:
"From now on, you're all prisoners of the Space Wolves. If you're lucky, you'll end up fighting for the Space Wolves and the Human Empire someday.
And don't even think about resisting. You've already seen what happens to those alien bastards. Otherwise, I'll smash your heads with a single punch!"
As he spoke, a Space Wolf squad leader bent down and squeezed through the deformed entry gate to stand behind Logan. In the same metallic tone, he reported:
"Sir, one of the brothers detected a peculiar scent nearby. There might be a xenomorph nest in the vicinity."
"Oh?!"
Logan's face lit up upon hearing this.
"Ha! More military merits! Let's go wipe out these alien scum!"
Without hesitation, Logan turned to leave.
But he didn't forget the marines behind him. After squeezing out of the pumping station, he opened a comms channel and ordered:
"Auxiliary forces in the vicinity, deploy a combat squad to the coordinates I've marked to rescue the Colonial Marines from One-Five Universe.
Medics, you'll have a heavy load. Stabilize those parasitized marines and keep them alive until we fully secure Argos. Then, hand them over to the biolabs for processing."
With that, Logan and the rest of the Space Wolves disappeared.
Even the sound of their heavy footsteps grew fainter, leaving the seven surviving marines staring at each other in silence.
When the footsteps were no longer audible, a female machine gunner broke the silence:
"Space Wolves? Human Empire? What the hell are they talking about?"
"No idea," another marine shrugged, exhaling deeply.
After witnessing Logan casually wade through a swarm of xenomorphs and hearing his threat about "smashing heads," it was hard for anyone to stay calm.
"Who cares about the Human Empire or the Space Wolves? I'm just glad we're alive," a marine native to Oblivion Moon muttered as he sat on the metal floor, leaning against the wall.
He continued, "That big guy mentioned finding a xenomorph nest, right? With their strength, clearing it out should be a piece of cake. So, I'm grateful they saved us and are taking care of Argos' alien infestation while they're at it."
Just as he finished speaking, a squad of auxiliary forces in gray-blue MechPro power armor entered the pumping station.
They systematically fired on the alien corpses to ensure they were dead.
Two medics with white shoulder plates ignored the wary stares of the survivors and approached the eight parasitized marines. After a brief examination, they retrieved "budget" nanobot injectors from their kits and administered them to the unconscious marines one by one.
Nanobots were theoretically capable of eliminating all intruders in a human body, including alien embryos.
However, the medics set the bots to "defensive" mode via their wrist computers after administering them.
This would delay the growth of the alien embryos without attempting to destroy them outright.
Past intelligence had shown that attempting to remove facehuggers forcibly often caused the parasites to tighten their grip, suffocating the host.
The medics prioritized stabilizing the parasitized marines and delaying the embryos' development, knowing this would buy time until Argos became a secure Imperial colony and specialized surgery could be performed.
Meanwhile, Logan and his team had reached the xenomorph nest.
"Damn, this thing's huge and ugly," Logan remarked as he stood at the edge of a drainage channel, looking down into a large sewage pool.
The pool was covered in a sticky, black organic layer, and countless facehugger eggs were scattered throughout.
The "huge and ugly" entity Logan referred to was the xenomorph queen, perched on the edge of the pool, tirelessly laying eggs.
Beyond the queen, numerous juvenile xenomorphs fed on local civilian remains, while xenomorph praetorians guarded the nest.
Logan quickly realized why the Colonial Marines and Argos law enforcement had been ambushed.
Their advance had posed a threat to the nest and the queen, prompting the worker and soldier xenomorphs to lure them into a trap at the pumping station.
But the xenomorphs hadn't accounted for the Space Wolves.
Facing Astartes, what chance did the aliens have?
In narrow terrain, the aliens' speed and agility gave them an edge against regular marines and law enforcement.
But when the narrow terrain was just wide enough for Astartes to maneuver, the aliens had signed their death warrant.
Logan alone had blocked the pumping station's exit, forcing the xenomorphs into a losing battle.
Now, the queen and her nest were exposed to the Space Wolves.
"Roar—!!"
Several praetorians roared as they charged, attempting to defend their queen.
Meanwhile, worker and soldier xenomorphs numbering over a hundred flooded the area, launching an attack on Logan's team.
Crack!
Logan rolled his shoulders, took his power axe from his belt, and leaped into the fray.
"Open fire, everyone! But leave the big one for me—I'm taking it alive!" Logan laughed as he charged toward the queen.
As xenomorphs swarmed him, Logan's powered axe cleaved through them with devastating force.
Despite their corrosive blood splattering everywhere, it barely left burns on Logan's skin.
In minutes, the queen had lost her legs, claws, and even her auxiliary mouth. Logan's plan for capturing her alive was well underway.
The battle to secure Argos—and the birth of another Imperial colony—had begun in earnest.
