Chapter 26 - The Massacre

As soon as he steps his foot into the portal, his eyes immediately sees a bright red sky with 3 suns in it. Green cloud and blue soil cover the place where he steps as his skeletons also step out of the portal.

"Who are you!? How dare you enter here?! Where is Lord Kharmol?!"

Looking at the screaming demons in front of him, he signals his hand and his skeletons start to kill any demon they see. As long as they are demons, death will be their end.

Capturing one of the demons, Adam severe his hands and feet before asking

"Is there any human here?"

The demon tremble in fear as he watches the skeletons slaughter all his friends no matter how hard they fight. Gathering up his courage, the demon try to spit at Adam's face and say something patriotic or something but before he can do anything, his neck is snapped by Adam.

After a few rounds of capturing and asking, he finally get an answer. Summoning a few more skeletons, Adam orders them to find all humans in this place. And they did.

Adam continues walking around and sightseeing the place and if not for the fact that carnage and destruction is happening around him, he would have look like a tourist.

Soon, he reaches a manor that is clearly bigger than the other building. Entering it, all he could see is dead bodies littering the ground as he kicks away some of them to clear a path for him.

Adam opens the door to what is clearly the main office and searches the room for anything valuable. Kharmol is just a general and there is clearly a demon king. It's just he doesn't know where this demon king is.

After he finishes looting the whole manor, he exits the place and returns back to the portal. And to his surprised there is a lot of humans that have been captured. He thought there must have been some at most but there is clearly more than enough to have a whole village with this people.

Looking at the listless and scared people, Adam snap a lightning bolt to the sky to gather their attentions.

"Listen up people. I don't care what you are, who you are and why you are here. What I want to know is, do you want to return back to Earth?"

As he says that, he could see their confusion. One of them couldn't resist the urge to ask.

"What do you mean return to Earth? I thought Earth is already destroyed and no one is left there."

Hearing that, Adam realizes why they are so listless. It's because they don't have any hope of returning.

"Earth wasn't destroyed. In fact, humanity is still prospering in the last bastion of humanity. So let me ask you again, do you all wish to return?"

All of their eyes immediately lit up when they hear that. Shouts of "yes" and "of course" sounded from the crowd but there is something weird that he just thought about.

"Wait, so none of you know about Lark. How come all of you knows about Earth? It's been at least 1000 years since humanity retreated to Lark."

The crowd fall into silence as they heard that. Suddenly, a woman in ragged clothes steps forward to say her thought.

"Ummm, I don't know if it is true but apparently, the time flows differently here and on Earth. 1 year on Earth is equivalent to 1 day. That's what I hear from the guards."

"I see."

Opening up the system panel, he sees that the time for his forced return are moving at the normal pace. So that means the timer is set based on where he is and not Earth time.

Anyway, he let the skeletons escorts the human and left a note on one of them to give it to the Commander. Let him handle the affairs of humanity while he handles the demon problem.

And with that Adam continues to guard the portal as he build a base around it while his skeletons continue to kill the demon, plunder their treasure and save humans.

After five months of continue plundering, Adam can say that he is probably the richest man on Earth right now. His inventory now is full of treasures that would make anyone drool over it. The amount of gold coins that he has can probably buy him all the counties in the world and would just barely scratch his stash. And that is not accounting the weapons, herbs, foods, and even clothes.

He left nothing for the demons that maybe still hiding somewhere. After all, since they can leave humanity on the brink of extinction, why can't he?

Returning back from the portal to Earth, he sees people guarding and patrolling around the portal. As soon as he appears, the guards starts to tense and draw their weapons. But after seeing it is human that passes through, they immediately relax their guards and call someone to deal with it.

However, the guards immediately falls into panic as they see who actually just passes through. Adam could hear the guards shouting and running around like a big shot from the government just decides to do an inspection in their branch today.

Soon, a woman enters the room along with an old man in a wheelchair. Looking at that bald and wrinkly face, Adam immediately recognize the person.

"Commander."

"Hahaha, it's good to see you too Adam."

"Heh. I can't believe you become bald as you grew older, Commander."

"Please, call me Andrew. You are an old friend. And you know how stressful it can be dealing with people. Sometimes I hope my subordinates are all like your skeletons. Always obey their orders and doesn't make trouble."

"Well they are good but in exchange you can never build a meaningful connection to them. After all, they are just skeletons."

"Hahaha. Of course. I'm just saying stuff. How is it on the other side? Will there be any problem for us?"

"Highly likely not. I already kill all of their powerhouse and the rest is just some dregs that could easily be killed by a soldier. I have a gift for you though."

Dumping a fraction of his treasures to the side, Adam orders some guards to store them in the warehouse. Adam and Andrew continue talking just until before the timer ends.

"Well I guess my time has come."

"I see. Will I see you again?"

"Maybe. But let's hope it is not another world ending scenario."

"Don't jinx it."

"Hahaha. Goodby Andrew. Live a good life."

"Already did. Goodbye Adam."

And with a bright white light, Adam disappears right in front of them. Andrew stares at the place Adam is just at sighs. Ordering his granddaughter, she pushes him back to his house. It is time for him to finally really rest. As he watch the sun set, he remembers Adam's words.

He really did live a good life.
