When Ye Feng, Hu Liena, Ye Lingling, Ning Rongrong, and Qian Renxue fully woke up, they found themselves on a circular platform.
The platform was etched with strange patterns and spanned only about five meters in diameter. It wasn't very spacious. With five people lying on such a small surface, it was definitely cramped.
The five of them woke up almost at the same time and stumbled to the ground.
Qian Renxue frowned, glancing at Ye Feng sprawled half on top of her, and snapped angrily, "Why don't you get off me already?!"
"Uh…"
Ye Feng was momentarily stunned before he grinned awkwardly. That's when he realized most of his body was pressing against Qian Renxue.
He tried to move, stretching his hand out to push himself off the ground—but Hu Liena's voice suddenly rang out.
"Ouch!"
Ye Feng froze. His hands, which were trying to prop himself up, had definitely just crushed something soft.
He looked down at his hand, then up at Hu Liena—his eyes dull and wide with disbelief.
Hu Liena's face flushed red as she glared at him and snapped, "Ye Feng! What the hell are you doing?!"
"S-Sorry! Sorry!" Ye Feng apologized in a panic, quickly pulling his hand away. He braced himself again, trying to stand.
But then—
"Mmph!"
Ye Feng froze again.
Because the exact same sensation struck him through his palm once more. He didn't even need to look this time.
"Ahh!" Ye Lingling yelped in shock.
Without even turning to look at her, Ye Feng clenched his teeth and forced himself up. Screw it—whether she liked it or not, he was standing.
When Ye Feng finally stood up, Qian Renxue, Hu Liena, and Ye Lingling were all glaring at him with resentful eyes.
"Ahem…" Ye Feng cleared his throat, a bit red in the face. "Everything just now was a misunderstanding… Anyway, let's figure out where we are."
Smartly, Ye Feng brushed off the awkwardness and redirected the conversation, successfully distracting the three girls.
As they began to take in their surroundings, their expressions changed into astonishment. Even though Bibi Dong had described this place to them, seeing it with their own eyes was something else entirely.
Everything around them was bathed in a faint, eerie blood-red light. Beyond the platform was a bottomless abyss. A single misstep, and it was certain death.
A narrow bridge extended from the platform, leading toward the outside world. The width of the bridge was no more than half a foot—barely enough to stand on.
"This… is the so-called Hell Road?" Ye Lingling murmured in awe.
"I wonder what's down there?" Ning Rongrong asked, stepping boldly to the edge and peering into the abyss below. Unfortunately, even with her eyesight, she couldn't see the bottom.
"Soul Abyss," Ye Feng replied calmly.
"That is Soul Abyss itself… The spirit power of all the fallen over the last thousand years in the City of Slaughter should be flowing through it," Qian Renxue said with a hint of emotion.
"It looks like this place—Hell Road—is the core of the City of Slaughter. Or rather... its source," Hu Liena concluded seriously.
"Cousin, Sister Rong, Sister Xue, Sister Nana… Let's think about how we're gonna get across the Hell Road," Ye Lingling reminded them gently.
Her gaze finally landed on Ye Feng—her cousin.
Due to the loss of his parents, Ye Feng had always been distant with her. She felt helpless about it.
Ning Rongrong, however, knew how Ye Lingling felt about Ye Feng.
As for what Qian Renxue and Hu Liena thought of him, Ye Lingling wasn't sure.
In her heart, if those two also liked Ye Feng, then she was willing to become his concubine. She already respectfully called them all "Sister."
"Let's move forward. We're not just here to pass the Hell Road—we're also paving the way for those behind us," Qian Renxue said, taking the lead.
"Alright," Ye Feng nodded.
"Also, just in case… we should tie all five of us together with rope," Hu Liena suggested. "That way, if someone slips, the others can pull them back in time."
"Good idea," Ye Feng agreed, reaching his hand toward Hu Liena.
"What are you doing?" she asked, puzzled.
"Didn't you say we should be tied together with rope? So… where's the rope?" Ye Feng asked seriously.
"You didn't bring any?" Hu Liena frowned.
"Nope," Ye Feng replied honestly.
"Why not? Teacher told us all about the Hell Road. Don't tell me you weren't aware of what's waiting here?" Hu Liena questioned in disbelief, her tone accusatory.
"I mean… I originally thought we'd pass through the Hell Road together. But who knew the King of Slaughter would suddenly appear and force only five of us through? So, yeah… I didn't think to bring rope." Ye Feng smiled guiltily, rubbing his nose with his fingers.
Hu Liena glared at him, her heart trembling. She had a feeling Ye Feng did it on purpose—but she had no proof.
"Sister Nana, cousin, stop arguing. Let's just focus on what we're going to do," Ye Lingling stepped in to mediate.
"Without rope, we just need to be extra careful," Hu Liena sighed.
At that moment, Ning Rongrong's eyes lit up with an idea. She turned to Ye Feng, her face flushing slightly. "I think there's a way we can still do this."
"What idea?" Hu Liena asked curiously.
"Our clothes," Ning Rongrong said softly. "They're made of silk thread. If we don't have ropes, we can use our clothes instead."
"Clothes?" Hu Liena blinked.
"Yeah. We can tear up some clothes and tie them together. That'll give us a makeshift rope to link ourselves with. Then we'll have something to grab onto if someone slips," Ning Rongrong explained in detail.
"Uh…"
Hu Liena turned and stared at Ye Feng.
"Uh…"
Qian Renxue also looked straight at Ye Feng.
Ye Lingling's cheeks turned slightly red as she shyly glanced over at him.
Ning Rongrong's idea was solid—but the issue was that they weren't all women. There was a man here. A grown man at that. And none of them were kids anymore—their bodies had… developed.
"No way!" Qian Renxue rejected the plan immediately. She knew this would only benefit Ye Feng.
"I think it's fine," Ye Lingling murmured softly, clearly holding a different opinion.
After all, she was Ye Feng's fiancée. She had no resistance to something like this.
Ye Feng, hearing Ning Rongrong's suggestion and seeing Ye Lingling's attitude, was stunned… and a little excited.
Am I finally on the right track to winning the heroines' hearts?
