Of course, since the next era has been canceled, only this era faces extinction. Perhaps the real universe will reappear in the "era-after-next" in some illogical form, much like skipping levels in a video game—you don't need to know what happened in the first two levels; all you know is that you're now playing the third.
As the last Gods emerged, the real universe began vanishing at an accelerated pace, exactly as the deep space beings had speculated.
