"You have no idea what my nightmares are like." He said, his voice a near whisper. While Hela was distracted he lightly tapped the tip of his wand to the ground, an incredibly thin gold line exited from the wand and burrowed into the ground.
"Perhaps not," Hela admitted, finding herself entranced by his bright, green orbs. She had learnt from a very young age that all people, no matter how skilled or powerful or even intelligent, showed their true selves through their eyes. She had seen so much fear and anger and pain in the eyes of her enemies, so much so that she could recognise those emotions easily. As she looked into the eyes of this man she saw anger and pain pass through his eyes along with several other emotions before she saw what she believed to be determination. "are you seriously going to fight me?" She asked, not entirely successful at keeping disbelief out of her voice. "Surely you know that that won't end well for you?"
"I remember one other person who said that to me," Harry chuckled. "he said that right before I nearly beat him, right before I started hunting down his people, killed his army and killed him."
"Impressive," Hela smirked. "but I think that you'll find that I am far harder to deal with than whomever you are referring to."
"The goddess of death being harder to kill than a delusional, power-hungry idiot with childhood issues? Who would guess?" Harry said sarcastically.
"You're quite amusing, but you've yet to answer me. Will you kneel? Will you serve me? Will you obey me?" She asked.
"You're not my wife." Harry shrugged before his cape moved and quick as a flash it wrapped around Hela's wrist and pulled so Hela's blade was no longer pressed against Harry's neck. At the same time the golden line shot out of the ground from behind Hela and wrapped around her other arm, the line thickened in length until it was the size of a rope. The rope and cape pulled her into the air long enough for Harry to shoot to his feet, Hela was let go just in time for Harry to swing his wand like it was a one handed bat.
Hela flew backwards before landing on the side of a house, she blinked just before three spiralling red beams crashed into her, sending her straight into the house as a cloud of dust shot up into the air. A small silence filed the air but was broken several seconds later.
"I'm going to kill you now." Hela's calm voice echoed from inside the house.
.....
"What are we going to do?" One worried Asgardian asked while Harry and Hela continued to battle outside of the palace.
"Well, I'd certainly advise not going out there." Heimdall commented, using his special sight to watch the battle. "I fear that between the two of them they could destroy the entirety of Asgard." He said in a sombre voice.
"The… the what?!" Volstagg blurted out. "Heimdall, my friend, we are well aware that they are both powerful but…"
"Powerful?" Heimdall chuckled humourlessly. "They are both beyond powerful. Potter, should he wish, could easily kill most beings in the universe with a single spell. Hela draws her power from Asgard itself, as long as it exists she will be unable to be defeated."
"Then what can we do?" Fandral frowned.
"My King?" Hogun the Grim asked Odin, looking at him questioningly. "What shall we do?" He asked, every pair of eyes in the room looked towards Odin.
"My people," Odin began with a heavy sigh. "my friends, my family, I have failed you, I have failed you all. And for that, you have my deepest and sincerest apologize. I have failed you all but I will do my best to make up for it now. As of the moment my priority is the safety of each and every member of Asgard."
"We can fight!" One Asgardian warrior called out. "Please, allow me and the rest of our men to…"
"No!" Odin said in a firm voice, cutting him off. "None of you are capable of stopping Hela, not even I am, not anymore. Thor's friend will hold her attention, meanwhile we must decide on our next move. Heimdall," He said, turning his gaze to the man in question. "we need to get all of these people out of here."
"To do that we must go to the bifrost," Heimdall replied. "to transport all of these people there will not go unnoticed by Hela, the wizard is a formidable opponent but if she notices the bifrost opening then she will surely do her best to ignore him and target us."
"Hmm." Odin hummed thoughtfully, unable to decide on what to do. The only thing he could think to do right now was unleash Surtur on Asgard, destroying Asgard would most definitely defeat Hela and save the rest of the nine realms from her madness. However, could he do that when all of his people, including his beloved wife, were here on Asgard? "I… Frigga?" He blinked when he saw Frigga reading a very thick book with frightening intensity. "What are you doing?" He asked.
"Looking for a solution, dear husband." She answered without tearing her gaze away from the book. "I'm looking for a way to solve this 'little' problem of ours. And… I believe… I may just have found one."
"What?!" He gasped. "B… b… but how?!" He said, looking at her with one very wide eye, his white eyebrows nearly shooting up into his hair.
"You may be the warrior and King, but I am undoubtedly the witch and brains of this marriage." Frigga said with a proud smirk on her face.
"I never thought I'd come back here." Brunnhilde said, a frown on her face as they arrived in Asgard.
The place wasn't the golden paradise that they were familiar with, it was more or less the same, but with a few obvious differences such as the massive amounts of smoke, fire and broken buildings.
Thor didn't say anything, he wasn't really sure what he could say. The last few hours - Was it even a few hours? Was it a day or more? He honestly didn't know - had been crazy to say the least. After being knocked out of the bifrost by his sister - the fact that he had a sister was something that he was still trying to get used to - he had ended up on some planet on the far side of the universe. And he had apparently landed there right in the middle of a revolution which had been led by Loki of all people.
Apparently Loki had landed on that very same planet weeks ago, that surprised Thor but he just chalked it up to the bifrost and moved on. He has also learnt that Loki had managed to get aid from Brunnhilde, the last living Valkyrie, along with several other aliens (including a Kronan called Korg and a little purple alien thing in a metal body that was called 'Miek') to accompany them to Asgard on a spaceship that they had 'aggressively acquired'.
Thor was admittedly impressed with Loki who was acting like a man on a mission, after all it took a particular kind of dedication to overthrow an entire government system in a few weeks just so you could get home and rescue your mother, and once they were done here he fully intended to tell him. But for now, he too was focusing on the mission at hand.
"I've got a ton of heat signatures at the palace." Brunnhilde said, staring at the ships computers. "It seems like every living person in Asgard is there right now."
"Not every living person." Loki pointed out, gesturing to the two heat signatures that were separated from the rest.
"One of those must be Hela." Thor said as the ship started flying down. "Time to go fight my sister."
"This won't be a simple battle." Loki sighed.
"No," Thor agreed without a moment's hesitation. "no, it will not be. But that doesn't mean I will turn away."
"Yes, yes, I know." Loki rolled his eyes. "You never give up and you never surrender or run or any of that, but will you please just try and come back alive?"
"I'll do my best." Thor chuckled.
