I felt a chill seep into my skin, an icy caress that set my every nerve alight. Slowly, my eyes fluttered open to reveal an endless void of white—an infinite, barren plain with no horizon, no landmarks to anchor me.
I began to walk, each step oddly measured, as if I were destined to wander in endless circles around the same central point.
There was nothing here except the unyielding cold. My mind raced: Is this what they call the afterlife? Have I truly died in such a silent, unremarkable way? The emptiness pressed in around me, and with each step, uncertainty deepened like the bite of frost.
Then, faintly, I heard a voice—a woman's voice, soft and almost hypnotic, carrying on the breeze as if it belonged to another realm.
