Chapter 249 - Chapter 246:- Paying The Price

Melissa staggered back to her apartment, her body moving mechanically as if it no longer belonged to her. Her mind was numb, her heart heavy with the weight of everything she had just learned.

The door clicked shut behind her, the noise echoing in the silence of her empty home. She locked the door, threw her coat on the floor, and stumbled to her bedroom.

As soon as she entered, Melissa collapsed on the floor, her knees giving out beneath her. The tears she had held back for so long began to flow freely, streaming down her face in a torrent of emotion.

Sobs wracked her body, and she buried her face in her hands, letting all the pain, all the betrayal, all the heartbreak pour out of her.

She cried for her father—the man she had once idolized, who had now become a stranger. She cried for herself, for the lies she had believed, for the pain she had endured, for the person she had lost in the process. The weight of it all crushed her, and for the first time in her life, she felt truly, utterly alone.

While Melissa was lost in her grief, the apartment was suffocating. Every inch of it, every corner, reminded her of the pain, the lies, the betrayal.

She couldn't bear to be here any longer. Her hands trembled as she reached for her phone, feeling like she was slipping further into a dark place she couldn't pull herself out of.

She scrolled through her contacts, her vision blurred from the tears. Her heart pounded in her chest as she hesitated, unsure of who to turn to.

But there was one person—just one—that she thought might understand, even if she couldn't explain everything, she had a feeling that the person she called might be the only one who could comfort her right now.

With shaking fingers, she dialed the number.

The phone rang once, twice, before a warm voice answered on the other end, soft but filled with concern. "Hello? What's the matter? Are you okay? Calling this late? Is everything okay?"

She swallowed hard, trying to form words. "I... I don't know what to do anymore. I'm scared. I don't want to be alone. I don't want to stay here at home right now. Please, I just need someone right now."

The voice on the other end paused for a moment, sensing the fear in her words. "It's alright. Just stay where you are. I'll come to get you. Don't worry, you won't be alone."

The weight of those words hit her, and a fresh wave of emotion surged through her. "Thank you… I'm just… I don't know if I can trust anyone right now. I don't know what's happening to me. I have too much on my plate and I don't know what to do anymore."

"That's okay," the voice reassured her, calm but urgent. "You don't need to explain anything. I'll be there soon."

She nodded, even though the person on the other end couldn't see it, wiping her face with trembling hands. "I… I don't want to be here. I'm afraid of what I might do."

There was a brief pause before the voice responded, gentler now. "I understand. We won't stay there, I promise. I'm taking you somewhere safe. Just wait for me."

She nodded again, her grip tightening on the phone. The call ended, and she found herself staring at the door, waiting. The minutes dragged, each one heavier than the last.

Every sound outside her apartment made her heart jump, but eventually, a soft knock broke the silence.

She rose slowly, her legs barely holding her up as she moved to the door. When she opened it, the person standing there didn't say anything at first.

Instead, they stepped inside quietly and immediately pulled her into a gentle embrace. It was comforting, grounding her in a way nothing else had.

"You're not alone," the voice whispered softly. "Come on, let's get out of here."

She nodded, barely able to speak as the tears flowed again. Together, they left the apartment behind, stepping out into the cool night air. The person led her to a car, and she sank into the seat, exhausted from the weight of everything she had been carrying.

As they drove through the empty streets, she didn't ask where they were going. She didn't care. All she knew was that for the first time in a long time, she didn't feel entirely alone anymore.

While Melissa called for someone to keep company

Izuku stood outside the remains of the restricted area. The explosions and chaos had already drawn attention, but luckily, the security surrounding the area was tight.

No civilians were nearby—only police and security personnel would be rushing to the scene. He had to act fast.

The data he had retrieved was like a goldmine—every single board member involved in the experiments, every corrupt official tied to the horrors that had taken place. This was their reckoning, and Izuku intended to make sure they paid in full.

His first target: a smug well dressed board member who had been hiding behind the façade of wealth and respectability. Izuku moved like a shadow, infiltrating the residence with silent efficiency.

The guards didn't even have time to draw their weapons as even before they could react they were on the ground, incapacitated. Inside, the man sat in his lavish living room, sipping on a glass of wine, blissfully unaware of the justice storming his way.

Izuku grabbed him by the throat, yanking him from his seat as if he weighed nothing, smashing him into walls, tables, and cabinets like hulk had done to Loki in stark tower in first Avengers.

Using his body to destroy the lavish residence he had created before dragging him outside. The board member's cries for mercy were ignored, his face was a bloody mess.

The once-luxurious room crumbled under the force of each impact, debris scattering everywhere. The man screamed in terror, his face a bloodied mess as he was dragged outside like trash

Izuku's face was cold, unfeeling anything, as he threw the man to the ground, his clones appearing around him like a vengeful army surrounding him.

Without a single word the beating began immediately. One clone grabbed the man by the hair, forcing him to watch as the others struck him mercilessly. The first punch sent him sprawling, gasping for breath.

"You destroyed lives for power," one clone growled, lifting the man up only to smash him back down. "You knew what you were doing," one clone growled, landing a punch to the man's stomach. "You profited from their suffering."

The man tried to scream, but every cry was cut short by another strike. Every strike was merciless. His cries for mercy were swallowed by the sounds of fists connecting with flesh.

The clones beat him without remorse, blood pooling beneath his body. His lavish life reduced to this moment of agony

When the beating stopped, Izuku left him sprawled on the ground, barely conscious, and moved on to the next target. One by one, he dragged each guilty board member from their hiding spots—out of mansions, penthouses, and luxurious retreats.

At each location, the same scene played out. Izuku smashed through their defenses, his clones overwhelming any resistance. Guards fell like dominoes, and the board members were ripped from their opulent lives and forced to face the consequences of their greed and cruelty.

The second board member, a woman who had held her head high at social gatherings, was yanked from her bed and thrown into the street, her screams echoing through the night. "I'll talk, I'll tell you everything!" she cried, as Izuku's clones circled around her.

But her confession earned her no mercy. The clones descended on her, each strike more vicious than the last, every punch reminding her of the lives she had ruined.

The beatings rained down. Each punch sent her body jolting in agony, something totally new to her. Blood stained the cobblestones as her cries of pain echoed through the night. Her body collapsed, a broken heap of misery, but the clones didn't stop.

The third, an elderly man, frail and feeble, was no different. He tried to flee, but Izuku caught him effortlessly, dragging him by his collar across the polished marble floor of his home, smashing him into expensive sculptures and art like they were worthless. His lavish surroundings shattered around him, much like his illusions of safety.

The clones surrounded him, beating him down with the same ruthless efficiency. "You deserve this," one of the clones spat as it stomped down on the man's chest, his bones cracking under the pressure. "For every life you took, for every experiment you approved."
