Charles gently pressed his hand against his own eye socket, having been too excited earlier to notice that only one of his eyes had returned; his right eye was still empty.
"My child, one eye is enough for now. You must know that to treat this eye of yours, we've used a great deal of resources. You'll have to sort out the other one yourself," the Church's voice returned to that kind tone, full of feigned gentleness.
Frowning slightly, Charles looked at the old man before him. He always had an unsettling feeling about him; he suspected the man could cure both of his eyes but chose to vex him instead.
However, Charles also understood that since the other party had already assisted him, it was not his place to make further demands.
The sudden return of his vision felt unbelievably good, enough to buoy his spirits, which had been dampened by the news of the Doctor's death.
