Chris made way downstairs to the hall where everyone had now gathered. He could see the most important family in society all present. He looked to his left, and his father was there with a frown on his face.
Chris nodded at him with a smile, but that didn't do anything in calming his father down. He must be really worried about him.
"You look handsome, son. I'm sure Angel will make a good wife to you." Maria moved forward and said, grabbing Chris by the arm. She tried her best to keep up the fake smile even though it wasn't easy.
Tonight, she needs to pretend to be cool with the whole thing. Very soon she will find a way to get rid of both Jonas and that slut.
"Good evening ladies and gentlemen." Williams voice rang through the room. He's the one to take the opening speech and introduce the couple. He really doesn't want to do this, but he has no choice.
"As you are all aware. My son Christopher is getting engaged today, even though I'm not sure this should be happening." Williams said unable to hide his displeasure.
"Williams!" Maria was almost yelling, but he didn't mind. He heaved a deep sigh and continued his speech.
"Thank you." He concluded and there was a round of applause from the guests.
"Now here comes the bride." William said with a heavy tone. Anyone could tell he was about to cry. Chris chuckled and looked up at the stairs. His smile froze at the sight of Angel, but he changed his demeanor immediately.
Everyone's attention was caught, and the entire hall was filled with murmurs and indistinct chatters. The soft music playing in the background made the atmosphere more serene.
There was love in the air, and Chris couldn't help grin widely as he walked towards Angel. Angel walked down the stairs majestically taking each step carefully.
She could feel her stomach tighten and butterflies invaded her stomach. She was smiling up to her eyes. Angel looked around the hall, and felt on top of the world.
Her eyes watered in excitement. She can't believe everyone are here for her. To celebrate her, and watch her get engaged to the love of her life.
Finally all of her dreams are coming to pass. She has been able to take away every obstacle in her path and now she's going to be the lady of the Smith empire, and rule the world.
She looked at her father, who nodded at her assuredly, and then looked back at Chris who was staring at her. She could sense the love in his eyes, and right there she was sure nothing could stop her.
"We should head over to the stage. The higher you climb, the greater the fall." Chris said with a smile, and Angel froze there on the spot. She had no idea what he meant by that, but then he was smiling at her.
She felt uneasy but took his hand nevertheless. Chris brought her to the stage, and everyone applauded them.
Chris took the microphone and smiled at Angel who was smiling back. He held her hand and gently caressed it.
"Now I present to you my bride and wife to be...." Christopher paused, and Angel closed her eyes in expectation. She could feel her knee weak with excitement, but she held herself up.
Everyone stood there in silence, waiting for the announcement. The music stopped, and the temperature in the room dropped.
Jonas furrowed his brow in confusion, he can't tell why, but he could feel Chris was up to something. He looked around, but nothing seemed unusual. He's probably just paranoid.
Chris stared directly at Jonas with a smirk on his face, confirming Jonas suspicion. Williams smiled as he could sense the drama unfolding.
"Jane!" Chris announced and dropped Angel's hand.
Immediately, the door to the hall creaked open, and Jane emerged with Mrs Whitney and Jack by her side.
Chris stood there on the stage in awe of Jane's beauty. She was putting on a red high slit gown. The dress seems to have been made perfectly for her. The diamond sitting pretty on her neck complimented her pale skin so well.
Her hair was packed up, allowing her face shine. The sound of her heels coming closer dragged with each powerful step taken.
She had a smile on her face and tweaked her alluring figure perfectly. Her confidence added to the volume of her beauty, making her look unstoppable.
The entire hall became a frenzy with gossip flying around.
Chris looked at his father, and he had never looked this proud. Not even when he closed the biggest deal ever recorded at the Smith's corporation.
"What!" Angel finally spoke, her mouth dropping to the floor. She hurried towards Chris and tugged his arm.
"Chris, what is going on here? You are joking right? I'm your bride and today is our engagement ceremony. This is all a joke, this can't be happening." Angel shook her head in denial.
"Be careful how you hold my husband, I can sue you!" Jane said and Angel's eyes widened with shock. She felt as though she was losing her mind.
Maria stood there in shock, trying to make sense of what's happening. Jonas glared at her with his fist clenched into a ball.
"Shut up you bitch! What the hell do you mean by that nonsense. You can't just badge in here and say things like that. This is my engagement ceremony with Chris." Angel said, tears dropping down her eyes.
"Chris is mine. He has always been mine. Chris tell her.... tell her you are getting married to me. Tell her now! Dad! Guards! Throw this bitch out, how dare you come in here like this. Who the hell do you think you are!" Angel yelled her entire body, trembling in anger.
"Oops, forgive my manners. I forgot to introduce myself properly. My name is Jane Smith." Jane announced with a smirk on her face.
