The fact that these people had gotten the eyewitness to come along with them had surprised Alex. He hadn't expected them to have foresight in the matter.
"How did the witness look?" Alex asked. "Reluctant? Afraid?"
"We're not at liberty to discuss that with you, I'm afraid," the short man said.
"You aren't scared to have the witness come with us, are you?" the other man with the narrow face asked.
"I have done nothing wrong. I have no reason to be scared," Alex said.
"We'll see," the man said.
Alex tried to find more information about the witness, but he was refused even the slightest information. He didn't know the age or the gender of the person that had tried to put the blame of the death of an entire sect on him.
He wanted to know what reason they had to lie. Why would that person ever want to blame him when he had done nothing.
Or was there someone impersonating him?
