Chapter 9 - First Job for the guide

Now that doesn't mean you'll get kidnapped right away after showing off your shadow meld, but if you're not careful that will likely happen sooner rather than later. As for Solid Energy, as long as you just use it for making shields around people you don't trust I don't imagine you'd have much of an issue since there are plenty of abilities that create shields in World Game.

Now my next warning is for you to train while using your weapons and abilities together as soon as possible. This is because its only a matter of time before you run into an opponent who is intelligent, whether its a person or monster. When you do you'll need more than just your telekinesis to survive. Adventurers often target other adventurers while outside of the city to take their valuables and coin.

This brings me to your last warning and that's to pay your city fee as soon as possible, don't go waiting until the last day to pay your fee. I say this because you never know what will happen out in the hunting grounds, you could get lost for three months and when you finally get back to the city you'll be denied entry because you didn't pay your fee ahead of time.

Now I will give you your first job. There's a player in the city who is part of my faction, I want you to go to him and have him train you in combat. There will be no reward for this Job because the information its self is the reward. You can tell/show him all of your abilities since he is a player aligned with our faction. Now iv set your meeting with him to be two days after you receive this letter, he'll be at the Adventurers job board and will be wearing a white tabard with a green lotus on it. That's what my faction is called Green Lotus. If you don't meet up with him and accept this job then I will take it that you don't want to be apart of the Green Lotus's and will never contact you again. If you do meet up with him then he will have a faction tabard for you. His name is Griffith and he's a Shalack which looks like a cat beast man. Good luck and I hope to have you as part of my faction soon.

 From

 Your Guide

After reading the letter I'm not sure how to feel. On one hand its nice to know that I can be a part of an organization and not be on my own in World Game. On the other hand though it feels weird to know I have someone watching me all the time. That's the only way to explain how my guide knows what I've been up to since i came to the city.

At the end of my musing though I decided to accept his offer. After all without him I would be a slave right now and who knows what abilities or race I would've picked if he didn't narrow down the selections for me. Overall he's been nothing but helpful. Even the very first job hes given me is nothing but helpful. At this point getting trained by another Player that I can trust is nothing short of priceless.

After making my decision I start eating and drinking as I talk to Hogan. I drink a little more than I probably should with the excuse of celebrating my breakthrough to E rank.

A few hours later I retired to my bed.

Over the next two days the only things I really do are eat, sleep and read the encyclopedias I bought. I didn't know what kind of training Griffith had in store for me but judging by the fact that I was meeting him in front of the job board made me believe we would be taking a job, and I wanted to be as prepared as possible for my next outing into the wilderness.

Two days pass in a flash and I soon find myself back in the Guilds headquarters. I slowly make my way to the job board on account of how packed the place is. Since I didn't know what time I would be meeting Griffith I decided to come first thing in the morning. I finally make my way to the job board and begin my search for Griffith.

I search for about ten minutes before I see someone with the body of a man but the head of a cheetah who was wearing a white tabard with the picture of a green lotus on it. Upon seeing him I get nervous but also excited because I know this will be a turning point for my new life in this crazy world called World Game. I rush up to him and say "Hello, I'm Cole. I was told to meet you here today."

At first he doesn't say anything and just looks me up and down causing me to believe that I got the wrong person. After scrutinizing me for what felt like forever he eventually laughs In a boisterous way, while slapping me on the shoulder a few times, each slap makes me feel like a nail being hammered into a piece of wood. Then says,

"there's no need to be nervous Cole, since you've accepted the invitation we're practically like family now. Here take this tabard and put it on, once you do you'll officially be apart of the Green Lotus's"

His voice was just as boisterous as his laugh, causing me to almost cover my ears with how loud it was. It caused all the people around us to turn and look our way though.

I take the tabard and put it on, its the same tabard as Griffith has on. Upon doing so it causes all the people who are now watching us to start murmuring to each other. From the the little bit I was able to hear it seems as though Griffith is quite the celebrity around the Adventurers guild in Andora. Not only that but out of the numerous people that asked to join his faction this is the first time they've seen anyone actually managing to do so.

"Don't mind them Cole. Since I'm an SS adventurer iv had many people ask to join our faction even though none of them even know what it means to do so. Let's go get some food while we talk for a little bit."

I'm extremely surprised that the person who will be training me is an SS ranked Adventurer. I just figured that they would be an E ranked adventurer like me.

He leads me to a cafe a couple blocks from the adventurers guild and we pay for a private booth so that no one can hear our conversation.

" We can speak freely here there's a silencing enchantment on each booth in order to keep their customers 'business personal. Now from what our guide told me, my job is to train you until you become a D rank adventurer. While that doesn't sound that difficult at first as you only have to complete ten E rank jobs to qualify for D rank, most Adventurers never make it out of E rank and only take unranked jobs to get by. Now Endora Is different because there's not a lot of unranked jobs but in most cities in World Game the majority of the jobs are unranked. The skill level required for E rank jobs is at least double what is required for unranked jobs, especially on Endora. That's because Endora is a Hunting Preserve there's a lot more beasts on account of it being so undeveloped. Not only are there more beasts but they even promote the breeding of high ranked beasts here which is not something most settled worlds do in World Game. Now I'm not saying you cant become a D rank adventurer I'm just saying that it will be harder than it appears. Especially because I heard that one of your main abilities is one that the other factions will definitely covet if they knew you had it. Why don't we start by you telling me what your attributes and skills are. You wont have to worry about me telling anyone since we're in the same faction. I would be kicked out of the faction and even be hunted by other factions members if I did anything like that to one of our members." Griffith say all this in his same boisterous voice that seems to reverberate around the room.

I begin to tell him my stats and abilities, the more I tell him the more shocked he becomes. I can tell the Griffith is someone who wears his heart on his sleeve because even with him having the head of a cheetah I can tell exactly what his facial expressions mean.

After I tell him my abilities Griffith just stares at me for a few minutes in shocked silence before saying "okay well maybe it wont be that hard to get you to D rank. I don't think I've ever seen a Player with such synergy between their stats and abilities before. Definitely never let anyone you don't completely trust know about your Shadow meld ability. That ability is so overpowered that factions would be lining up to just get a piece of you. That passive of yours, Stone Resolve would also cause a lot of trouble for you if it was known because your mental stat is the only stat you cant raise with your accumulated stat points, its something that goes up with time as you overcome more difficult obstacles. The fact that you can put holes in the trees of Endora with just basic daggers while using telekinesis is solely because of that passive skill. You were right about telekinesis being your primary form of attack with that kind of strength behind it. Your Fleet Footed skill will become quite overpowered too once you level up your speed some more. A twenty-five percent increase to speed is no joke. Don't even get me started on how broken premeditation is, if I had that skill I would've been able to level up to SS tier in half the time. Definitely never tell anyone outside of the faction about any of your passive skills, you'd be kidnapped for sure"

Griffith stops talking as there's a knock on our booths door, its opened to reveal our server who is there to take our order. Griffith orders so much food that I don't think I'd be able to eat all of it in an entire week let alone one sitting.

Once our server closes the door Griffith continues talking "Now your Solid Energy ability will become a lot more powerful as you level up and gain more energy. If I'm not wrong I think you could coat your daggers in it to cause additional damage. I don't know how much more damage that will make them do but it should be at least double. If you do that though then every time you hit someone with your coated daggers then it would siphon some of your energy and turn it into damage. I'm assuming that if you make permanent daggers out of it though then that energy consumption would go towards their durability instead of you energy pool. if you do that though then you wouldn't get the extra damage from coating your actual daggers. I'm not one-hundred percent sure how that will work so we will have to do some testing to find out. After hearing about your skills and stats I have complete confidence in getting you to D rank in one piece, especially if we can find you a party you can trust with your abilities. Now unfortunately if I go with you on Jobs then they wont count towards you next rank on account of me being so much higher of a rank than you. in fact if you were to pair up with someone a higher rank than you then it will take double the amount of jobs for you to get to the next rank. Unless the jobs you were doing were D rank, in which case you would still only need to complete ten jobs."
