Chapter 23 - The Demon King

"What the hell…? Herd, rip him apart!"

Mephisto was the first to react. The white-haired boy, both fanatically loyal to Talulah and cruel by nature, struck without hesitation when Revy suddenly transformed into something terrifying and unfamiliar.

"Is it you? IS IT YOU?! You wanna fight me?! LET'S FIGHT—THUNDERSTORM!!"

The laughing "Revy" was no longer wielding his familiar black-and-white twin pistols.

In their place appeared two pitch-black weapons—not quite guns, not quite blades. They had no visible barrels, no triggers. Their eerie design resembled something closer to bone-forged sickles or L-shaped scythe-blades.

And then—they fired.

But there was no gunfire. No shell casings.

Instead, from the twin "blades" surged pure light.

It was Originium-infused energy—laser-like beams so hot and piercing they vaporized the first few infected that charged ahead. Where the light touched, flesh, bone, and armor melted instantly.

It didn't look like a ranged attack—it looked like someone had taken a sword of light and cleaved straight through the enemy ranks.

"My herd—! You bastard!!"

Mephisto's fury was mixed with something he hadn't felt in years—fear. The sheer devastation from this new Revy's assault was overwhelming. The visual impact alone sent chills down every spine on the battlefield.

"You're not gonna fight me? What about you?! And you?! AND YOU?!"

After wiping out the frontlines, Revy's crimson, gleaming eyes locked on W, FrostNova, and Talulah.

The three immediately braced for battle.

But then—light devoured the battlefield.

Not one beam. Not ten. Not a hundred—but thousands.

From the tips of his twin weapons, Revy unleashed a blinding barrage—an endless flood of energy blasts that blanketed a 180-degree arc before him like a divine machine gun.

Because they weren't firing bullets but pure magic, the onslaught showed no signs of slowing. The entire battlefield was swept in radiant destruction—like a hot knife slicing through butter.

"Damn it… No one ever said this freak could do something like that!"

W cursed, narrowly dodging multiple beams. She hurled a wave of explosives at her feet to create a high-temperature shockwave barrier, trying to mitigate the incoming attacks.

(This isn't the Revy I know. He's never used anything like this before...)

(Either he's been hiding this power all along—or… he's not Revy at all.)

"How fascinating…" murmured Talulah, who had fared better than most.

As a Draco, Talulah could generate energy with every breath. As a mage, her massive mana reserves made her a fortress.

While FrostNova had to go all-out raising defensive shields just to avoid being impaled by the rain of beams, Talulah only needed to flick her wrist to conjure a casually placed magic barrier that completely blocked the attacks.

"Hey! You're strong! Fight me!"

The rate of fire increased again—Revy's twin weapons firing faster than even a machine gun, now bordering on supernatural.

Even as he suppressed the Reunion officers around him, he focused the brunt of his barrage on Talulah.

"You don't know your place! Let me show you true power!"

Talulah roared, her mana flaring violently. The temperature around her surged. Her weapon, once a broadsword, now burned like a molten furnace.

"—Die!"

With the roar of a dragon, the flames detached from her blade for the first time, erupting into a tsunami of fire that surged straight toward the source of Revy's shots.

The barrage of beams suddenly stopped, as if frozen in awe of the approaching inferno.

The hellfire swallowed the demon.

"Yes! That's Talulah for you! Burn him to ash!"

Mephisto was hysterical, eyes gleaming with fanaticism.

He had already lost more than half his "herd" to the light barrage, forced to throw his infected soldiers forward as meat shields.

FrostNova remained silent, her breath heavy.

W, eyes narrowing, seemed almost regretful—but then exhaled and let it go.

Only Faust said nothing. His gaze remained locked on the smoke rising from the scorched battlefield.

Then, his expression changed.

"No… Something's wrong! Everyone—get back!"

"HAHAHAHA! So this is pain?! More! MORE! —Devour the Abyss!!"

A manic laugh exploded from within the smoke.

Emerging from the firestorm, "Revy" now bore a massive gaping wound on his right shoulder—down to the bone.

But he moved like nothing had happened.

In his eyes: excitement. Madness. Battle-lust.

A berserker.

That word simultaneously entered everyone's minds.

This was no longer the Revy they knew.

Now, he resembled something out of Minosian myth—a war-born demon who fed on pain, who fought for blood, who would never fall until everything around him had died.

And in his hand—was no longer a gun.

He now held a sword.

Forged from unknown animal bones, covered in jagged teeth and barbs, it looked less like a blade and more like a massive spiked club.

"Tch—!"

Talulah hadn't imagined anyone could survive her full-power flame tsunami. Caught off guard, she hastily raised her weapon and conjured another defense.

Too late.

"HEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEE!!"

The monstrous "Revy" struck three times in rapid succession—each blow smashing into Talulah's blade, forcing her back, gasping for breath.

Even she had taken a hit in that exchange.

"Don't run now!"

With a wide sweep of his "bone-club," Revy slammed the ground—

"Devour the land! I will bring forth the inferno that ends all things!"
