Chapter 2 - Detention With the Devil

Han Nari slammed her locker shut, hoping it'd silence her racing thoughts.

But no. He was still there.

Leaning casually against the wall like a drama villain in slow motion—Lee Joon, chewing gum, spinning a basketball lazily on his finger.

"Morning, nerd," he smirked. "Still crying about yesterday's crash?"

Nari walked past him, eyes locked forward. "I don't talk to human distractions."

"Ouch." He pushed off the wall and followed her. "That sounded like a compliment in reverse."

She stopped. "I have a math competition today. I don't have time for clowns."

"Good," he grinned. "Because I'm not a clown. I'm the whole circus."

Two Hours Later – Detention Room

Silence.

Nari's pencil tapped. Joon drummed his fingers on the desk.

The teacher had assigned them both detention after their morning argument echoed across the hallway like a K-pop diss track.

Nari finally spoke. "Why are you always like this?"

Joon looked up, his usual smirk gone. "Like what?

"Like… you're trying to prove something. To everyone. Every second."

He leaned forward. "You think you know me?"

"No," she said softly. "But I see things."

A pause.

Then his smile returned—but this time, it didn't reach his eyes.

"You're weird, Han Nari. But interesting."

She blinked. "Did you just—"

"Don't get used to it," he cut in quickly, standing. "You're still annoying."

As he walked out, she bit her lip, cheeks warm.
