Chapter 2 - Chapter 2- So that's how it is

"So that's how it is..." Nova muttered while scratching the back of his head. "So you're from 11th grade at SMMA school and your name is Ena Selvan, right?" Nova tried to remember her face, but there was absolutely no memory of this girl in his head.

"I've already told you my name, now it's my turn to ask - who are you? We're in the same school but I've never seen you before. In other words, you must be in a different class from me, right?"

"You can call me Nova. I'm from 12th grade," he answered briefly.

"Ohh~ I see, so you're 18 years old," she said while nodding. "No wonder I've never seen you. You're an upperclassman after all."

SMMA school was indeed quite large with a three-story building. The first floor was the place for eating and the library—a suitable place to relax during breaks. The second floor was specifically for 11th grade, and the third floor for 12th grade like Nova's class. So it was natural that they had never met.

Now they were both standing under a large, shady tree. Its trunk was so thick that it would take five people to embrace it, and its branches stretched high forming a natural canopy.

"Do you remember why you ended up in this forest?" Nova asked while leaning against the tree trunk. "As for me, I clearly don't remember, because at that time I was sleeping in class."

Ena fell silent for a moment, as if she was trying to remember. Her face showed a confused expression. "Well, I don't know if my experience is the same as yours, but I can only explain what brought me to this forest."

"Alright, please explain everything you know."

"At that time, I was walking leisurely to my class as usual. When I was about to open the classroom door, suddenly a black hole appeared from under my feet." Ena moved her hands, as if describing the hole she meant. "I couldn't run at that time and fell into that hole. After that, I woke up in this forest."

"A black hole, huh..." Nova muttered while gazing at the sky. "I don't know if a black hole also appeared under my desk or not. If there really was a hole that appeared under my desk while I was sleeping, there should be my desk and chair at the place where I woke up, right?" Nova thought for a moment. "Does that black hole only drop humans?"

"I don't know either," Ena answered while shaking her head. "So now I want to ask, how did you know that I have light powers?"

"Hmm, that's easy. When you were dodging the attacks coming toward you earlier, I could see small lights coming out of your body." Nova pointed toward Ena. "In other words, you must have used light power to make your speed faster and somewhat able to dodge the incoming attacks, right?"

Ena stared at him with wide eyes. "I see... It seems you have sharp eyes. I didn't even know there were small lights coming out."

"So now what should we do?" Ena asked while looking around the forest. "Somehow I feel like we're in another world."

"I think what you feel is correct," Nova answered while nodding. "It seems we really are in another world now and we don't know where we are. Try looking at what's up there."

Nova raised his hand and pointed to the sky above. There, far above their heads, something completely unreasonable could be seen.

"Hmm, that's too high," Ena said while squinting her eyes. "I can only see something like floating in the air. Err, it looks like... a flying island?" She seemed to have difficulty seeing from such a distance. "It's very hard to measure the distance, but I think it might be several kilometers away. I can only see large rocks flying there and can't see what's there because it's hidden by clouds." Ena then looked at Nova suspiciously. "How can you see it from here?"

"I don't know," he answered flatly.

"Well, I know you're lying," Ena said while crossing her arms. "You've been strange from the beginning. You don't even look surprised at all."

"I think you're the same as me, right? It's better if we both don't tell each other who we really are or whatever."

"Well, alright," Ena said while sighing. "It seems safer that way for now."

"It looks like that's a floating castle," Nova said while looking back at the sky. "Yes, that alone clearly proves that we're in another world."

"Hah, it seems like something is coming toward us," Nova said while looking north in the sky above. His vision caught two small dots moving quickly toward their location.

"Something?" Ena immediately became alert and also looked in the same direction as him.

*Somehow I have a bad feeling. It seems like what's coming are two humans and they're flying toward us,* Nova thought.
