Chapter 9 - Chapters 9 : when the hearts start glowing

The sun filtered gently through the curtains, painting golden stripes across Aanya's pillow.

She blinked awake, and for a few seconds, didn't move.

Something felt different.

No tears. No ache.

Just warmth.

A quiet kind of joy that stretched from her chest to her fingertips.

She smiled.

Not because something happened.

But because it felt like… something was coming.

☕ At College – That Morning

The college grounds were buzzing like always, but Aanya moved through it differently now—lighter, softer.

Meher spotted her by the canteen and practically dropped her samosa.

"Oh. My. GOD. Why are you glowing like you're in love?"

Aanya laughed, cheeks tingling. "I just… feel happy."

"Did someone finally confess in your dreams?"

"No," Aanya said, eyes twinkling. "But I think… my soul did."

Meher blinked. "Okay, poet. Calm down."

Just then, Vedant joined them, smiling gently. There was no awkwardness now—just a quiet understanding.

He didn't ask questions.

He didn't need to.

He saw the peace in her eyes, and that was enough.

For the first time in weeks, Aanya felt like the world was flowing with her again.

Like life was quietly rearranging itself, one peaceful moment at a time

🌧️ The Next Day – Rain & Rest

The sky turned grey. A drizzle tapped against the windows.

Aanya sniffled into a tissue, curled up in bed with a book and a thick blanket.

Her phone buzzed.

Meher Calling...

> "Why aren't you here, dream girl?"

"Cold. Blanket. Tissue box," Aanya croaked.

"Ugh. Aanyaaa. You missed the MOST important day."

"Don't scare me."

"I'm serious! A new boy joined our class today.

Aanya sat up. "New boy?"

> "Transfer student. Mid-sem. Tall, mysterious, Walked in like a movie scene."

"You're exaggerating."

"I'm not! He's so handsome. Like… dangerously good-looking. Messy hair, deep eyes, sharp jawline. That quiet 'don't mess with me' vibe."

"You and your type."

"He didn't even try. Just walked to the window seat with his headphones and sat down like he owned the air."

> "Oh—and guess what. He's from some elite music background. Someone said they saw him at a music school in Delhi. Must be rich-rich."

"And how exactly do you know that?"

"Gossip spreads FAST. Duh."

Aanya chuckled, but her hand quietly went to her chest.

Something shifted. Again.

Not in her mind, but somewhere deeper—like her soul had just heard footsteps it had been waiting for.

> "What's his name?" Aanya asked, her voice soft.

> "Didn't catch it. He didn't say much. But girl… something about him is different."

Aanya didn't speak.

She just stared at the ceiling, a faint smile on her lips, her heart suddenly glowing like a quiet flame.

In that stillness, her soul whispered again:

He's here.
