The sharp acidic taste of vomit burned my throat as I emptied the contents of my stomach all over Julian's pristine white shirt. Last night's excessive wine consumption was taking its revenge in the most humiliating way possible.
"What the hell, Aurelia?" Julian jumped back, his face contorted with disgust. Amber eyes that had been tender moments before now blazed with revulsion.
I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand, mortified beyond words. "I'm sorry, I—"
"Save it." He cut me off, stripping off his soiled shirt. "I need to shower. This is exactly why I shouldn't have come here."
The cold dismissal in his voice sobered me instantly. Of course. One kiss hadn't changed anything between us. I was still the unwanted mate, the burden he'd been forced to accept.
Julian left without another word, slamming the door behind him. I collapsed onto the edge of my bed, tears stinging my eyes as the room spun around me.
