Our school planned a cultural trip to Kamakura—a full day away from Tokyo to visit shrines, temples, and the beach. Miyu and I sat next to each other on the bus.
At Hase-dera Temple, we bought matching omamori charms. At the bamboo grove, we made wishes together. At the beach, we took our shoes off and ran along the shore.
She wrote our names in the sand. I snapped a photo before the tide could wash it away.
"This feels like a memory we'll talk about years from now," she said.
I nodded. "Let's make a lot more."
