Chapter 3 - Chapter Four: Ugly Coincidence

GWENDOLEN

I stayed longer at the Cemetery. The mortuary attendant came today to clean up the graves since it was autumn but I already did that after reading a little.

The mortuary attendant was a grumpy old man who like everyone else, avoided me like I was a bubonic plague. I really wanted to get answers so I started a conversation.

"You never answer my greetings." He froze, probably scared at my bored voice which came out a bit scary.

"I am not supposed to talk to you." He said, hastening his activity.

I tilted my head, accessing him and he looked quite pitiful at the moment. I smiled, seeing that as an advantage. I felt my eyes get heavy, meaning they changed color.

"I am curious to know about the reason why you always avoid me. We should understand each other since I help you at you duties." I played with my fingers.

"You don't know." He looked up at me with shock in his green eyes. I raised a brow, confused and unfazed.

"Know what?" I asked. Hoping to get answers.

"If you don't know, then I shouldn't tell." He picked up his instruments while avoiding eye contact. I frowned and closed my eyes.

"Look at me." I opened my eyes and he looked frozen, struggling to keep his body at his will but his head turned to me and our eyes locked. His pupils shrunk and I proceeded to my questions while maintaining eye contact.

 "Why I people avoid me?"

"You are the bride to Cairon." He said, sounding robotic. I squinted.

 "Who is Cairon?"

He shivered, struggling to break out of my control due to fear but I held him once more with my eyes but it wouldn't last long. It would cause a migraine.

"Cairon is the second son of the Calvin family. He is also known as the Mow-dow and you are his bride. We are to avoid you to prevent his wrath be cause no one will survive his anger except you of course."

I blinked, losing control of the man and when he regained himself, he picked up his items and ran out.

"The Mow-dow... So I am his mate, huh?"

What an ugly coincidence....

*"*"*"

I got home early today and my 'family' were enjoying watching a movie. They seemed so indulged to even notice me but i didn't mind, I didn't need them to.
