Chapter 12 - chapter 12

Jessica picked it up, fought back her emotions, snapped the straw off, inserted it in the carton, and gleefully took a swallow. Jessica could tell it wasn't apple juice as soon as it touched her tongue. Jessica couldn't help but. gulp the drink down because it was so sweet and delicious.

Jessica was unable to stop herself from sipping the liquid despite knowing it was blood and that Felix had played a prank on her. Jessica gulped the last of the liquid while glaring fiercely at Felix.

"Did your mother never employ deception to persuade you to consume vegetables?" Felix asked resolutely.

"Yes, but there was no blood." Jessica threw the carton at him while smirking sternly. "You need blood to survive right now, Jessica. You're a vampire." Felix spoke plainly as he grabbed the carton and threw it in the trash. Jessica disregarded him and pulled a genuine carton of juice from her bag.

"I despise you!" Jessica screamed before taking her bag and leaving the room.

Until her next lecture, Jessica made the decision to skulk in the women's room. One of the few places Jessica could hide from Felix and Hugo on campus was the women's restroom. They both lack the courage to enter this precious feminine area. The female staff and student body would give anyone who was foolish or gutsy enough the boot. Because of this, no one liked a pervert, and Jessica vowed to scream bloody murder ifFelix or Hugo ever tried to find her.

Jessica pondered how becoming a vampire might alter her as a person as she stood alone in the restroom stall with nothing but her thoughts. Jessica felt like she was still a human, but she wasn't. Jessica had lost her soul; was she going to become into the ruthless killer that most vampires in novels and movies are portrayed to be?

Frightened Jessica was paralyzed with fear as she stood still in a restroom cubicle. How would Jessica tell her parents about this? Jessica could hardly handle the gloomy northern winter sun, so how was she ever going to visit them in Miami?

"You didn't have the right to make me a vampire!" Jessica yelled at Felix in her head. Are you still hiding in the restroom? Felix swiftly retorted in a sarcastic manner.

Jessica didn't bother to respond. Jessica was back to her regular bitter, resentful self now that the physical need she had for Felix an hour earlier had happily long since subsided. She was still puzzled as to why, in that moment of weakness, she had wanted to kiss Felix so badly. Maybe she was right about the vampire pheromone theory, or maybe it was just a case of poor decision-making under pressure. Jessica could see why any woman would find Felix attractive because he wasn't actually a bad-looking guy. He was extremely photogenic because of his strange, ominous appearance. Everything about him shouted "LA model" or "Hollywood actor," especially his black hair and eyes. Jessica was baffled as to why someone with such amazing looks would need to kidnap a wife.

Why would one of the world's most attractive guys kidnap Jessica ?

After using the restroom, Jessica looked in the mirror to see herself, but all she saw was a boring girl with messy hair and loose clothes. What exactly made her unique? Why Jessica rather than Felix for the marriage?

Jessica walked sadly toward her next lecture Hugo was waiting for Jessica as she opened the door to the restroom, which did not surprise her. He stood up straight and moved in her direction after spotting her.

He bowed and said, "Highness." I don't need a babysitter, Hugo, listen up." "Jessica cried out.

"Highness, do I make you uneasy? If it would relieve your concerns, I could invite Jacques to join us "Without even the slightest sign of offense, Hugo remarked. When Jessica raised her hands, she exclaimed, "I don't feel awkward with you, Hugo. I don't like what Felix and you do. This is not what I requested, and I don't want it. So leave me alone and return to Felix. Also, don't address me as your Highness." Hugo looked away from Jessica as she began to go, but just like previously, he paid her no mind and began to follow her. Jessica didn't complain because she was too exhausted and angry; instead, she calmly let Hugo follow her while maintaining a distance of several feet.

As they descended to the basement lecture halls, they passed the cafeteria. At this time, students were traveling from one class to another in the hallways. Jessica started to walk down the steps with the other students when she noticed something.

The most stunning woman Jessica had ever seen was ascending the stairs in between the two streams of students. Jessica overheard Hugo mutter, "What is she doing here?" behind her.

She moved with an otherworldly grace. She was wonderfully lovely, the kind of beauty that graced the covers of all the leading fashion magazines. Every man, gay or straight, was looking at her. She had porcelain complexion, large, brown doe eyes, and soft, delicate facial features that were faultless. Her face was framed by waves of brown hair that hung down to her hips. Jessica noticed that every boy in the class was in love with her and that every girl wanted to be her by taking a look around. Jessica saw that she was fixated on her flawless beauty.

"What's her name?" Jessica turned to Hugo.

Hugo answered, "Her name is Ophelia."

Ophelia smiled amiably at Jessica as they passed and then ascended.

Jessica muttered, feeling a little self-conscious, "She is stunning."

"Jess, take this woman for who she is. Look past the facade, "Hugo spoke quietly.

Jessica looked at Ophelia and couldn't make out what Hugo was trying to say.

"Hugo, she is stunning," said Jessica.

"But how does she feel?" Nico enquired. "Do you want me to approach her and touch her?" Jessica said in a mocking tone.

The crowd was crowding against them, and Hugo sighed as he moved toward Jessica. "Use your vampire mind to reach out and sense her. Feel her energy, her life force—does it feel kind, joyful, or depressed?"

Ophelia saw Jessica's slanted gaze. At this point, Ophelia had reached the top of the steps and was leaving with the others. Jessica observed her carefully and noticed that her eyes were two enormous, expressionless black nothingness in the center of her face. In a clinical sense, she was lovely, but she felt nearly emotionless, heartless, and dead. The smile she had given Jessica was cold and vain.

"Jess, do you get it now?" Hugo enquired.

"I do, she's like a doll in every way; she seems great on the outside, but inside she's hollow. She doesn't feel human to me, Hugo, which I know sounds crazy," remarked Jessica.

"She isn't a human." He answered.

"So why is Ophelia on my college campus if she is a vampire?" Jessica asked Hugo.

Hugo and Jessica were waiting for Jessica's lecturer to figure out how to use the Power Point presentation as they sat in the basement lecture theater. Hugo was using a pen while sitting close to Jessica. He made the pen swirl between each of his fingers as he ran it between them with grace and elegance. His movements were precise, and I could almost picture him honing them with something more lethal, like a knife.

"Ophelia is the queen because she is married to Felix's brother. she will want to meet you To formally welcome you into the royal family, " Hugo clarified. "So Felix is actually a Prince, what gives? The name "the Dark Prince" isn't it kind of a famous one?"

Hugo strained to contain his pleasure as the corner of his mouth twitched, "Felix is a legitimate member of the royal family, Jess. He does not pose as a royal. If he were, I wouldn't have used your royal title or addressed you as such " He spoke.

"I have a title?" said Jessica.

"Yes," Hugo said, "you are Her Royal Highness Princess Jessica." Jessica had heard Hugo address her as "Highness" before, but she always assumed he was being ironic. Jessica had no idea that she would become a princess if she married the Dark Prince. Jessica wasn't even princess material, which was absurd. Jessica wore jeans and Converse for the most of her life. Ophelia's graceful swanning about in beautiful clothing didn't sit well with Jessica. Jessica was unkempt and messy; she did not care about fashion or spend a lot of money on her hair or nails. Jessica was less of a princess and more of an anti-princess.

Hugo must have noticed Jessica's face because he calmly inquired, "Jess, what's up?"

Jessica made a hand motion "Hugo, do I look like a princess when you look at me? I'm just a regular girl; I'm neither a princess nor an Ophelia "explained Jessica.

"Good," Hugo grinned, "you'll be just what the court needs."

"Oh my goodness, a vampire court has popped up!" Jessica blew a sigh.

Jessica was in desperate need of a sizable audience to watch her fluff up. Jessica rested her head on the desk, closed her eyes, and wished that everything would just go away. Jessica pictured herself being wheeled out in front of a big group of dignitaries to make an introduction. Jessica would be dressed in her favorite band's t-shirt and her lucky pair of jeans with a patched hole in the crotch while everyone else would be wearing pricey and sophisticated attire.

"Felix is a member of an illustrious family that has ruled the American North for centuries. You will be expected to travel and live in court one day as Felix's bride and a Princess of the royal family because the palace is their political bastion," Hugo added.

Jessica muttered into the desk, "This is not going to end good."

"Be strong, Jess, this court needs strong ladies, not fragile princesses," Nico said. " Princesses that are fragile, like Ophelia break."

When the Power Point flickered on, the lecture hall went silent. Hugo caught Jessica's attention as she turned to face him and grinned at him. In extremely tough circumstances, he was attempting to help her feel better.

Jessica was a typical teenager yesterday, but she was a vampire princess today. Jessica can only say that life is a pain.
