Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: [3] : Obito's Unwillingness

---

Shin's movements had been under Obito's observation.

When he saw Shin close his eyes, no longer looking at him, and his eyelids twitch a few times as if deliberately provoking him, he couldn't help but clench his fists.

"Damn it... What's there to be so arrogant about..."

"A guy who's been left behind by his own younger brother..."

Obito gnashed his teeth.

But Kakashi was also an arrogant brat. Although he only stayed for less than half a year before graduating early, in any case, both brothers were equally insufferable.

"I heard Kakashi completed an A-rank mission with a Jonin recently."

"Although it's a bit frustrating, that guy is indeed quite capable. He was promoted to Chunin last year, and perhaps he'll become a Jonin soon..."

Someone who heard Obito's words deliberately spoke, following Obito's lead.

Shin's performance in class was usually within the top ten, occasionally even getting first place. There was no good reason to mock Shin using his grades and performance, but comparing him to Kakashi could effectively put Shin down.

After all, when compared to Kakashi, who graduated at five and was promoted to Chunin at six, Shin's brilliance was immediately overshadowed, and he was even somewhat incomparable to Kakashi.

The person next to him immediately understood his intention, glanced at Shin, and said somewhat casually,

"Though I don't want to admit it, that guy is indeed a genius. Compared to him, some people don't seem quite qualified to be an older brother."

Whoosh!

Before Shin could react, Inoka Yamanaka, a girl sitting in front of Shin, stood up and angrily looked at Kiban Inuzuka, who had spoken, saying,

"Hey! What did you say?!"

Kiban was glared at by the girl and naturally wouldn't back down. He puffed out his chest and said,

"What's wrong? Was what I said incorrect?"

Inoka was enraged but couldn't find any words to refute.

Shin opened his eyes, looked at Inoka, and chuckled indifferently,

"Kakashi is indeed a genius. It's quite hard for ordinary people to compare with him..."

Inoka nodded and said,

"Mm-hmm, Shin, you don't need to pay attention to him. A ninja like your brother is rare to see in many years. You don't need to compare yourself to Kakashi."

Kurenai also nodded in agreement.

As long as he wasn't compared to a 'monster' like Kakashi, Shin was already considered an outstanding genius in this class, with no real flaws.

Shin's words were cut off before he could finish. He shrugged innocently, made no further defense, and simply smiled at Kurenai.

Kiban saw that Shin didn't want to argue with him, and the girls had reached a consensus. Although somewhat unwilling, he could only grumble a few words and look away.

Kurenai looked at Shin, her beautiful big eyes subtly flickering, and whispered,

"Having a brother like Kakashi must be quite a lot of pressure, right?"

"No."

Shin looked at Kurenai and smiled,

"Why should there be pressure? Isn't it better for my brother to be stronger? It's not like the Hyuga clan..."

Kurenai blinked and said,

"What's wrong with the Hyuga clan?"

"Oh, you don't know."

Shin briefly explained some things about the Hyuga clan's Main House and Branch House, which surprised Kurenai.

Kurenai looked towards someone in the corner of the classroom and quietly thought to herself,

"I didn't expect the prestigious Hyuga clan to be like that."

The person sitting in the corner was Homura Hyuga, the nephew of the clan head, Hyuga Hiashi, and a member of the Branch House.

As a member of the prestigious Hyuga clan, he had the pride of a noble family. He disdained Shin, who was often surrounded by girls. His grades were always first or second in the class, and his only target was Kakashi.

In fact, he could have also graduated early, but the elders in his family advised him not to graduate early and to simply follow the normal course of training, so he did just that.

"..."

Vaguely hearing Shin mention the Hyuga clan, Homura Hyuga turned his head and glanced at Shin, frowning slightly, but didn't hear what Shin said.

Although he couldn't hear clearly, he could roughly guess that Shin had mentioned something about the Hyuga clan. Homura Hyuga's eyes flickered.

"He's being a little too arrogant..."

Being surrounded by girls and being popular wasn't something he cared much about, even if he found it a bit distasteful. But mentioning the Hyuga clan was another matter entirely.

Should he 'warn' him after class?

Homura Hyuga's eyes flickered.

After all, Shin wasn't Kakashi. In his opinion, among people of similar age, only Kakashi could surpass him.

While Homura Hyuga was pondering, the last student also completed the Shadow Clone Jutsu practice test. The Chunin teacher recorded the final scores, glanced at the report card, and said:

"Today's test is over."

"Those who didn't pass are Obito Uchiha, Tana Aburame... You few, step up your practice after class."

"There will be a mock test tomorrow, so be prepared. In four days is the official promotion exam. Those who fail will stay at school during the winter break for remedial classes until they can pass the exam!"

As the Chunin teacher's words fell, many students in the class let out a long sigh of relief.

Obito Uchiha and the others who didn't pass the test looked a bit gloomy. Of course, no one wanted remedial classes during the winter break; not only would they lose their vacation, but it was also too embarrassing.

"That's all for today. You can go home early now."

The Chunin teacher put the report card into a folder, tidied it up, and then spoke to the students in the class.

Hearing the Chunin teacher's words, many students stood up, bowed to the Chunin teacher, and then, after the teacher nodded and left the classroom, dispersed in a rush.

Using the excuse of "I have something to do, I'll head back first," Shin quickly returned home after shaking off Kurenai, Inoka Yamanaka, and other girls.

Watching these precocious eight- and nine-year-old girls squabbling was quite amusing, but Shin had more important things to do, which was to quickly adapt to the triple-speed state.

Triple speed corresponded to double speed, further increasing his speed.

After a simple dinner, Shin went to the backyard and entered the triple-speed state, beginning to punch and train against a special wooden dummy placed there.

To make his body grow faster, Shin not only activated the speed multiplier during training but also during sleep. His bodily cell division and metabolism also became faster. One day for others was almost equivalent to two days for him, so although he was eight years old, due to the dream speed multiplier for nearly two years, his actual physical age was already nine.

If he kept the speed multiplier on all the time, his body would grow even faster but keeping it on during normal times was simply too boring. Listening to lessons was like playing at 0.5x speed; every tone from the teacher would be drawn out, triggering his OCD.

Moreover, if he constantly kept the speed multiplier on, he'd have to slow down his speech and actions to appear normal, which was very troublesome. So, during school, Shin still used his normal state.
