Whoosh!

Controlling two daggers, George stealthily slit the throats of two guards and arrived at a fork in the path.

According to his understanding and covert eavesdropping during this period, the right path led to the mess hall, and beyond the mess hall were the rooms where the mutant children were held. The left path led out of the lab.

If he were to go left now, with his current strength, he could most likely sneak out safely, then get a car and escape.

Once he reached a densely populated urban area, he would be free as a bird.

With the group of mutant children drawing fire, there likely wouldn't be many people coming after him later.

"Ah!!!"

Just as he was about to step left down this fork, a tragic scream echoed from deep within the right path. It was a tender voice, a child's voice.

And this scream made George's raised foot drop back down.

"Sigh, it seems I still can't be that rational, that ruthless."

After a moment of hesitation, he turned and headed right.

The entire experimental base held fifty mutant children. According to what he saw in the movie, less than twenty, including the little wolf girl X-23, ultimately escaped.

This meant that over thirty mutant children died in this escape.

George didn't consider himself a good person, nor a bad one. He was just a normal person whose moral compass was at the human average.

Logic told him that in this situation, letting the children draw fire while he quietly escaped was the safest option.

But a person isn't a machine; how could one be so purely rational?

If the scream had come from adults, he would have steeled his heart and ignored it; after all, they were strangers.

But these were, after all, pitiful children, and he saw them every day. Although he hadn't spoken to them, he knew them all.

However, he had also thought it through clearly: he would save them if he could, but if he truly couldn't, he would run. His own life still came first.

"Rady, Weir, Ellie..."

In the mess hall, Gabriela watched as three children, who had been shot trying to stop the pursuers, cried tears again.

After realizing that the purpose of this genetic modification institute was not to research a cure for cancer but to cultivate mutant killers, she and several other kind colleagues decided to secretly help these poor children escape.

However, before the plan could be implemented, the lab's senior management had already decided to collectively execute these children.

Because of this, they had to escape prematurely, but even with their various miraculous abilities, the children were no match for the experienced guards with their cold firearms.

Just reaching the mess hall, several of her colleagues had already been killed while providing cover, and over a dozen of the fifty children had been killed. To truly escape later, even more would likely die.

"Laura!"

At that moment, seeing X-23, the strongest among the children, being restrained with her limbs fixed in mid-air and unable to break free after killing six people, Gabriela grabbed the submachine gun from a nearby guard's corpse. She said to the children behind her:

"You go to the entrance. Aunt Isa will take you to your destination."

Isa was the last surviving colleague, usually responsible for driving a large truck to transport supplies purchased from the city to the base.

Upon receiving their notification, she had already driven the truck to the entrance to rendezvous.

"What about you and Laura?"

The slightly older mutant boy leading the group showed a worried expression.

Although they had always lived in the lab and lacked common sense, they weren't stupid.

"Rictor, you're the oldest among them. I'm entrusting them all to you. Take them to the destination and wait for me there. I will definitely bring Laura to find you."

Gabriela gently instructed the boy, then, holding the submachine gun, she unleashed a barrage of fire at the guards, intending to create an opportunity for the children to escape.

Her aim wasn't good, but this wild spraying of bullets caused the guards restraining the little wolf girl to scramble, allowing one of the wolf girl's feet to break free. She viciously plunged the adamantium claws on that foot into a guard's eye, temporarily breaking free.

However, it was clear that more guards were already rushing in through the passage.

Seeing this, Rictor gritted his teeth and led his non-blood-related younger siblings down the corridor.

But they had barely escaped the mess hall when they were blocked in the passage by four armed guards.

"Everyone, charge!"

Fearful inside, but they still mustered their courage, intending to fight these four guards to the death to escape.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

However, before their abilities could even activate, two of the guards suddenly collapsed to the ground with blood gushing from their necks. The remaining two guards hastily turned, only to be met by two bullets.

"Are you alright?"

George dispatched the four guards and looked at the stunned children in front of him, slightly relieved.

There were still thirty-four children alive. He had arrived just in time.

"Subject 757!"

Realizing that the one who saved them was the silent Subject 757, Rictor was momentarily stunned, but then immediately said anxiously:

"Aunt Gabriela and Laura are still in the mess hall..."

"I've cleared out the guards behind you. Keep running outside. I'll go save them."

George didn't hesitate. He gave the instruction, then dropped the empty submachine gun in his hand, picked up two from the fallen guards, and rushed towards the mess hall.

"So brutal?"

As soon as he burst into the mess hall, he witnessed the little wolf girl astride a guard's neck, viciously assaulting his head, completely pulverizing his brains.

That sight even startled the surrounding guards.

However, ultimately, her small stature meant she was suppressed by the reacting guards' bullets. Although she couldn't be killed due to her healing factor, she was forced down from the air, stumbling backward repeatedly.

Beside her, Gabriela, having run out of bullets, was pinned behind cover and couldn't help at all.

"F*ck!"

At this moment, relying solely on controlling daggers to kill enemies was clearly insufficient. He didn't have a healing factor to withstand so many guns.

If he couldn't kill the opposing side quickly, ruthless suppressive fire awaited him.

So, George braced both submachine guns, imbuing all his magnetic control into the bullets in the magazines, and began his furious assault.

As the bullets were fired, they did not fly along their original trajectories. Instead, influenced by magnetism, they transformed into arcs, aiming as precisely as possible for the vital points of the guards.

The firing speed of a submachine gun combined with the precision of a sniper rifle—this was his true trump card, the reason he dared to come and help.
