To atone for the sins of a past life, Akin must walk a path between fate and free will, between mercy and vengeance. With every step, he is drawn deeper into a world where Taoist magic, Buddhist wisdom, and ancient legends intertwine and where even a brushstroke can shape the destiny of souls.

Chapter 1 - WISH OF LOVE BENEATH THE AZURE SKY

"The demon-slaying swordsman has returned…

To rewrite fate, he must choose

The sword or the brush.

Slaughter or compassion."

A vow of love… or a destiny carved in stone?

Once a fearsome warrior who cleansed the world of demons, he returns now in a new body, faced with a choice: to kill again or walk the path of mercy.

In a world shaped by Tang Dynasty grandeur, where Buddhism and the arts intertwine like rivers and wind,

Will he shape his fate with a sword or with a brush?

Akin, a gifted contemporary Chinese ink painter known for his flowing brushwork, graceful as a swordsman's strike, faces a tragic accident that tears his soul from his body.

In the realm between life and death, he encounters Guanyin, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, and Nuwa, the goddess of creation.

They offer him a chance: to return… not as himself, but as a man from a past life, a chance to make amends for a grave sin he has long forgotten, but never escaped.

He awakens in the body of Lingsan, a swordsman of the Tang Dynasty, circa 700 CE, an era blooming with art, faith, and imperial intrigue.

In that life long ago, he had slaughtered demons without mercy, his blade stained with the blood of countless creatures, guilty or not.

But now… Lingsan chooses another way.

He refuses to kill those demons who walk the path of goodness.

By his side stands Baijing, a kind and enigmatic white fox spirit who becomes his closest friend and companion. Together, they travel a martial world filled with Taoist monks, warriors, and demon hunters, many of whom still believe that all demons must perish.

Lingsan finds himself torn between an old vow of love to Xue Rong, a strong-hearted woman devoted to strict teachings…

and a new path he forges through compassion, wisdom, and the ancient teachings of Buddhism and Tao.

Armed with his sword and his brush,

guided by friendship and faith,

Can he awaken from the cycle of vengeance?

and rewrite not only his fate,

But the fate of the martial world?
