Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Acquiring the System

"Haoshuai, are you okay?"

"Huh? What happened to me?" In a daze, Haoshuai slowly came to.

"Go take a rest over there for now," came a loud voice from the front.

Someone next to him helped Haoshuai to sit down on the steps at the side.

Finally, Haoshuai regained his senses. The moment he saw the people in military green uniforms ahead, he was instantly shocked.

"Did I… transmigrate? No, wait. Reborn?" The scene in front of him felt incredibly familiar—it was exactly like the military training when he first entered college. Back then, he had skipped breakfast one morning, and during assembly, he suddenly blacked out and fainted.

Haoshuai's mind was in turmoil. He clearly remembered lying on a recliner, gazing at the stars. He must have fallen asleep, but how did he end up reborn after waking up? Haoshuai remained in a dazed state.

Seeing that something seemed off with Haoshuai's mental state, the drill instructor allowed him to return and rest. After all, the instructor didn't want any accidents.

Hearing this, Haoshuai agreed and went straight back to his dorm. He needed to figure out what exactly was going on. He had read countless novels on certain web platforms and was very familiar with the "rebirth" trope, but he never imagined such a cliché thing would actually happen to him.

"Ding… Scanning host…"

"Host name: Haoshuai. Race: Human. Age: 18. Height: —. Weight: 70 kg. Blood type: O."

"Strength: 4.0 (average adult male: 5.0)"

"Agility: 4.0 (average adult male: 5.0)"

"Intelligence: 6.0 (average adult male: 5.0)"

"Stamina: 4.1 (average adult male: 5.0)"

"Host meets requirements…"

"Binding…"

"Host successfully bound…"

A cold, mechanical voice suddenly sounded in Haoshuai's mind.

"Who's there? Show yourself!" Haoshuai jumped in fright.

"I am the intelligent program of the Super Legion System. Pleased to serve you."

What was this? A cheat! Haoshuai realized that this so-called "Super Legion System" must be the reason he was reborn. It was his cheat, and he had finally gotten the protagonist treatment.

"What does the Super Legion System do? How do I enter it?"

"Host only needs to silently think 'enter system.' Other information is currently inaccessible due to insufficient permissions."

Haoshuai silently thought "enter system," and suddenly a light screen appeared in front of him. On it were only three sections: Skill System, Quest System, and Title System.

"System, can other people see this screen?"

"No. The screen is projected directly into the host's eyes."

Then Haoshuai began exploring these subsystems. The Quest System and Title System were both empty. The Skill System was divided into seven parts: Basic Skills, Primary Skills, Intermediate Skills, Advanced Skills, Superior Skills, Ultimate Skills, and… a seventh option, but all of them were empty for now.

At this point, Haoshuai realized that he had gotten incredibly lucky. Compared to his previous life, he was not only reborn but also had the help of the Super Legion System, so he felt confident about creating a bright future.

"System, your voice is so cold. From now on, I'll call you A'Leng (Cold Bro), and you can call me A'Shuai (Handsome Bro)," he finally decided on their forms of address.

In the afternoon, Haoshuai joined the military training as usual. The system thoughtfully issued him a quest.

"Quest Name: Military Training"

"Quest Duration: Within 15 days"

"Quest Level: None"

"Quest Requirement: Complete military training"

"Quest Reward: Rewards distributed daily according to training days"

"Quest Note: 0.1 Strength and 0.1 Stamina awarded per day. Since the host only trained for half a day today, no rewards will be given."

It was obvious this quest was a free benefit for Haoshuai—he just needed to train as everyone else did, and he would improve physically. This made him very happy.

In the following days, Haoshuai and his group went to a special forces training base in Jinghua City for military training.

During the training, when Haoshuai first touched a gun, he unlocked his first skill in the Skill System—Basic Marksmanship.

Basic Marksmanship: Allows preliminary use of semi-automatic rifles and low-power handguns.

There was a "Learn" button next to this skill, but it was currently grayed out and unavailable.

Thanks to the system's enhancements and the fact that he had already experienced military training in his previous life, Haoshuai performed exceptionally well. In the end, he was awarded "Outstanding Individual." This title earned him his first title—"Rookie Soldier."

When Haoshuai asked about the effect of this title, the system explained that equipping it would make others feel he had the aura of a rookie.

Although he understood its effect, he didn't need it yet, so he didn't equip it.

After completing the military training, Haoshuai received the quest rewards. Every night before bed, he would feel a warm current flowing through his body, gradually strengthening him.

Now officially starting his university life, the system timely issued him two new quests: one long-term and one short-term.

"Quest Name: Straight-A Student"

"Quest Duration: Six months"

"Quest Level: None"

"Quest Requirement: Score above 90 in every subject in the first semester"

"Quest Reward: Intelligence +1"

"Quest Name: Master Strategist"

"Quest Duration: Within 20 days"

"Quest Level: None"

"Quest Requirement: Read Romance of the Three Kingdoms, finish reading and identify 20 strategies"

"Quest Reward: Intelligence +0.1"

"Looks like these early quests are super easy—almost free rewards. But this straight-A quest has quite a bit of pressure. No wonder it gives a whole point of Intelligence; it's ten times more than the strategist quest," Haoshuai muttered after reading the quests.

With new quests in hand—and since they were relatively easy—Haoshuai certainly wouldn't waste time. After the quests were issued, he went straight to the library and borrowed a copy of Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Since classes hadn't officially started, he had plenty of free time.

Reading wasn't difficult; the key was to understand it. After all, the quest required him to identify 20 strategies. If they were mentioned in the book but he failed to notice them, it wouldn't count. Fortunately, Haoshuai was quite fond of the Three Kingdoms period and could understand many of the strategies, so he completed the "Master Strategist" quest over the weekend.

After finishing the quest, he took a shower and planned to claim the reward before going to bed.

When he claimed the reward in the Quest System, he felt a cool sensation in his mind, indicating his intelligence was being enhanced. Once the coolness faded, the system's voice sounded again.

"Ding…"
