Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Directress

Sophie Baldwin was a woman so strikingly beautiful that legends could be written about her allure, and so powerful that she could turn anyone who approached her into dust. With her wavy navy-blue hair and ruby-like eyes, she was living proof of how contrast could be transformed into beauty. Her mature figure turned her beauty into a force of attraction.

What kind of jobs do you think a woman this beautiful might have? Modeling? Becoming an idol? Acting? Sounds logical, right? But no — this stunning and magnetic woman worked as a school principal...

Yes, it might sound completely unfitting, but Sophie had a deep passion for education. And when her family's academy — Zukunft Arcanum Academy — came into the picture, she naturally found herself appointed as its principal. And honestly, she had no complaints.

Her favorite part of the job was watching students complain about their own mistakes, only stepping in to intervene when she felt it was necessary. It was truly the perfect job for her — except for the paperwork.

Even though she was a Mind Weaver — that didn't mean she enjoyed bureaucracy. To someone like Sophie, it was just unnecessary labor. Still, her position came with responsibilities she couldn't fully escape. That didn't stop her from offloading most of it onto her assistant, of course.

At that very moment, Sophie was working through the few documents she couldn't delegate when she decided to take a short break and glance around her office.

She sat at her desk, crafted entirely from walnut wood. At the front sat a traditional nameplate, and beside it a sleek pen holder, also walnut, adorned with an eagle carving. In the left corner of the desk stood a matching walnut pot with a Sansevieria plant — a subtle but fitting touch.

Her digital tools included an all-in-one computer, the most suitable model for the desk. She used a comfortable, practical keyboard and mouse. While opinions varied, Sophie's personal favorite part of the desk was the drawers underneath. Inside them were notebooks and other supplies — a hidden arsenal for times of need.

As for the rest of the room: the walls were painted a deep navy blue. A simple yet elegant chandelier hung from the ceiling. Behind her were two pairs of windows with flowing navy silk curtains that could be drawn when needed. In front of the desk were two black armchairs, facing a dark sepia-toned coffee table, all complemented by a black sofa with two plush cushions for extra comfort.

Pleased with her elegant yet understated office, Sophie was just about to get back to work when a movement on her computer's live feed caught her attention.

A boy with brown hair, wearing a black T-shirt and fitted sweatpants, was walking toward the dorms with a suitcase in hand. His face looked strangely familiar. For some reason, he reminded her of someone — but she didn't dwell on it. He was probably one of the early arrivals.

Back at work, a file caught her eye — one her assistant had handed her personally. It contained the top-scoring students from this year's entrance exams. One name immediately stood out: first place.

Except this year, there were two students who tied for first. One was Theodore Mosby — a globally recognized genius who, at just 14 years old, had already earned the title of "Absolute Prodigy," with hair and eyes resembling the void itself.

The other was a boy named Baran Ahmethan Kaya, also 14, with brown hair and dark brown eyes.

As Sophie read through the second boy's information, her eyes paused at the surname.

It couldn't be... Could he be their child?

If he was... then this year was going to be a real storm.
