"Use protection!" Vera shouted as Sebastian and I prepared to leave her suite. "I'm too young to be an aunt!"


My face burned hotter than a furnace. I couldn't even look at Sebastian, who was calmly collecting my suitcase as if my best friend hadn't just humiliated me completely.


"Vera, please," I hissed, mortification spreading through every inch of my body.


Sebastian just chuckled, placing a steady hand against the small of my back. "Ready?" he asked softly.


"Goodnight, Vera," Sebastian called over his shoulder. "Thank you for your... concern."


Vera blew us an exaggerated kiss. "Remember what I said! Safety first!"


I practically sprinted into the hallway, Sebastian following with my luggage. The door hadn't even fully closed when Vera's voice carried through one last time.


The door clicked shut. I covered my face with my hands, wishing the floor would open up and swallow me whole.
