Sebastian's eyes flashed dangerously. "That's not her place."


"I know," I said, feeling oddly comforted by his immediate defense. "But is she wrong? Am I being paranoid?"


"No." His answer was swift and decisive. "After everything that's happened, your concerns are completely valid. Gloria Everett was released yesterday, by the way."


My stomach dropped. "What? How is that possible?"


"Money and connections," Sebastian said grimly. "Her lawyers found a technicality. But don't worry – she's being monitored."


I nodded, trying to process this new information. Gloria walking free sent chills down my spine.
