soldier 21 of the 49th regiment north:
I don't know how much longer we're going to hold out. They call this a border checkpoint, but the people who call it that don't come here to see what's going on. This is war on both sides. Trenches as far as the eye can see. Miles and miles of trenches. It seems like they've forgotten about us. There haven't been enough supplies for weeks. When someone dies, a soldier picks up his weapon and keeps fighting. There aren't enough weapons or ammunition for everyone. It seems like the enemy has found out. The damned terrorist attacks have escalated. They're nothing more than idiots who kill those who don't share their ideology or who speak ill of the president for life (that's what they call the president of "freedom" in the republic). I just have to stay alive for another week to take leave and return to the capital. I hope the attacks haven't reached there.
