Synopsis
150 years after the Great War that tore the peace treaty between the Five Great Families, the lands of Kama remain fractured and tense. The war left deep scars—generations of loss, bloodshed, and unresolved secrets buried beneath layers of royal deception. In the heart of Ankh, a kingdom known for its ancestral traditions and unexpected miracles, Teleu becomes a fugitive overnight. Betrayed by his uncle—who hungers for the throne and will stop at nothing to ensure his own rise—Teleu becomes the target of a deadly assassination plot. Forced to flee his homeland, Teleu’s path takes him deep into the forests near the Gold Land, where destiny waits. There, amidst danger and survival, he crosses paths with Rel, a strong-willed and sharp-tongued princess of the Gold Land, who is herself fighting to protect her younger brother from shadowy forces threatening her kingdom. As Teleu and Rel forge an unlikely alliance, both find themselves caught in a web of political intrigue, personal vendettas, and ancient family rivalries. Across kingdoms, secret letters pass between traitors and loyalists. Ambitions fester in palace halls. And in the distance, a storm of conflict gathers.

Chapter 1 - Whispers Before Blood

"Has your duty been accomplished, ser?" A soft, tender, yet arrogant voice reverberated throughout a petite but luxurious chamber.

The lighting was dim, the atmosphere somber, dark, and chilling as two individuals conversed in secrecy. The voice belonged to the sole, young, charming maiden in the chamber. She sat in a leather armchair, sipping green tea while gazing at the ceiling.

Standing before her was a plain-looking, middle-aged man of skinny stature, clad in light traditional kente robes woven in rainbow colors.

"Of course, young lady," the man bowed. "I arranged for the task to be carried out in a few days. Worry not, young miss, the best the kingdom has to offer was hired. Their service will be worth the price," he reassured.

"I hope so," said the maiden. "Mother mentioned how crucial this endeavor is for our plans. Failure won't be tolerated. Success will be rewarded." Her voice remained indifferent, almost cold.

"I kn-know... I know the retribution, young lady. Reason for all my efforts," the man stuttered, seemingly all too familiar with how failure was treated in the circle he belonged to.

"You ought to perform your best. Thou art aware of the consequences... as well as the benefits. This isn't your first private task." The woman smiled faintly, nodded, then said, "Discard."

"Yes, my lady."

Obediently, the command was heeded by the middle-aged man as he exited the room.

Left alone in the chamber, the lady sipped her tea and sank into reverie.

"Sigh…" She exhaled softly. It's a shame blood has to be shed for power to be kept. Any alternative to bloodshed is welcome... wistfully, none are effective. Humans are power-driven and selfish. Any means is acceptable as long as it guarantees survival and preservation.

"Sorry, Rel... It's just destiny. Yours was decided by my mother," she murmured to herself.

An incense stick later, the maiden sighed once more.

An hour later, she secretly exited the chamber.

Hence, silence sang in the room.
