Chapter 4 - Diagon Alley part 2

"Professor, you mean to say those silver-blue, cloudy creatures—Griffin, Angel, and Phoenix—are called Patronus?" I asked Professor McGonagall as we strolled down the cobbled path of Diagon Alley, having just left Ollivander's shop. We were now heading towards the Magical Menagerie, the pet shop bustling with sounds of chirps, growls, and hisses.

"Indeed," Professor McGonagall replied, her lips twitching into a rare smile. "The Patronus Charm is one of the most difficult charms to master, even for skilled adult wizards. It requires the caster to channel pure, untainted happiness—only the strongest and most heartfelt joy can bring forth a Patronus. Traditionally, a wizard can summon only one Patronus, usually reflecting their inner nature. But in your case…" She paused, eyeing me with something between fascination and mild concern. "You summoned three. All mythical. A Griffin, an Angel, and a Phoenix. Perhaps it's because you're still a child—your happiness overflows, unfiltered and boundless."

She turned her attention toward my parents, beginning to explain the regulations of the wizarding world in a more serious tone.

Just then, a familiar chime echoed in my mind.

[Ding! The host has awakened spiritual roots at a later stage of life. When the world turns against you, form your own army. Beast Taming is the path to creating a powerful following. The host will soon be enrolled in the Beast Taming Academy of the Elves.]

[ Main Mission:Gain the voluntary loyalty of a magical beast and earn recognition from the Academy Chief.

Side Objective: Tame more than three supreme beasts. Do not get caught—being caught stealing would be disgraceful for a future legendary wizard.]

So the fanfictions from my past life weren't entirely wrong. Two missions—both brilliant and completely insane—were issued right here in Diagon Alley. Feeling a surge of excitement, I dashed toward the pet shop.

...

"Wait… So you're telling me you just entered the shop, and all the animals surrounded you on their own?" Hermione's voice was laced with disbelief as she stared at the chaotic scene before her.

It was, admittedly, a bit much. I stood frozen in the middle of the store, practically buried under a heap of affectionate animals. Every cat in the shop was lounging lazily around me, refusing to move even when tempted with food. The owls had perched themselves above and around me, blinking calmly. Several Bowtruckles were hanging off my shirt sleeves and pants pockets like mischievous little ornaments, and two slender snakes were curled around my neck, hissing softly in contentment.

The customers in the shop burst out laughing at the absurdity of the sight. That is, until Professor McGonagall cleared her throat. Even the laughter of grown adults wilted under her sharp gaze. Yep. Classic cat-lady bloodline suppression.

I looked at the shop owner for help, but even he shrugged helplessly.

It took me two exhausting hours to escape. Eventually, I realized it was my body's natural aura—something awakened by my spiritual roots—that was drawing the animals to me. I ended up using a bit of Nature Magic to help the shopkeeper cultivate some new magical plants with calming and vitality-enhancing properties. Once planted around the shop, they distracted the animals enough to free me.

In gratitude—and perhaps relief—the shopkeeper allowed me to keep the ones that had bonded too strongly to be separated. So I left with eight companions: a pair of Kneazles, two pairs of Bowtruckles, a slim serpent carrying a trace of basilisk blood, and an elegant owl.

As soon as we stepped outside, another system notification rang out.

[Ding! Mission Completed: You have successfully tamed magical beasts. Rewards pending.]

....

"Are there unicorns in Hogwarts?" I asked Professor McGonagall as we made our way toward the Floo station.

She looked at me, a little surprised by the question. "Why do you ask?"

"I just want to see one… someday," I replied honestly.

"Well," she said thoughtfully, "Hogwarts itself doesn't house unicorns, but deep within the Forbidden Forest—beyond the castle grounds—several unicorn tribes dwell near the streams that flow down from the mountains. You'll find many magical creatures there. Some are docile, others poisonous. Some beautiful, some terrifying."

"Then can I go visit the forest before school starts?"

She hesitated, her eyes narrowing slightly. "No, I'm afraid that's not possible. There's a ritual before entering Hogwarts, and you haven't passed through it yet. Until then, the castle's ancient protections won't allow you inside. But once you've officially entered and been sorted into a House, I promise I'll take you there."

She patted my head gently, her hand lingering longer than necessary. As she began explaining the characteristics of the four Houses, I listened with curiosity.

"Gryffindor values courage, chivalry, and bravery. Hufflepuff stands for loyalty, patience, and fairness. Ravenclaw cherishes intelligence, wit, and curiosity. And Slytherin prides itself on ambition, cunning, and resourcefulness."

She didn't mention anything about a Sorting Hat. Instead, she said both Hermione and I would have to complete a special challenge that would determine our Houses. Her lips twitched upward as she said that—a dangerous sign. I already suspected this older cat-lady enjoyed giving children heart attacks.

Still, her hand remained on my head, ruffling my hair absentmindedly.

Do all cat people have a habit of petting others? I wondered. Never mind. Let her do what she likes. I didn't really mind it.

.....

That night, tired and utterly exhausted, I collapsed onto my bed.

As soon as we reached home, my eight new magical pets dashed off excitedly toward the backyard. Dad and I had to spend the next few hours building makeshift shelters for them. Venom—the snake with traces of basilisk blood—refused to leave my neck, coiling around me protectively like a living scarf. The Bowtruckles had already claimed the garden as their territory, flitting among the branches and leaves with playful chirps. The four Kneazles, majestic and vigilant, took a liking to the living room, curling up on the couches as if they'd lived there forever. The owl chose the topmost bookshelf as its perch and immediately began judging us from above like some feathery aristocrat.

After settling them in, I joined Sister Hermione to review the books we'd brought home. She was clearly trying to keep up, but much to her irritation, I was able to perform every charm and curse on my first attempt. I didn't mean to show off—it was just the effect of my two talents: Advanced Charm Magic and Intermediate Attack Magic. But watching me easily master spells that even adult wizards struggle with made her clench her jaw. As the older sibling, she clearly expected to be the more talented one. I could see her eyes narrow every time I got a spell right.

Still, she didn't say anything—just turned a page with more force than necessary.

After dinner, laying on my bed with a contented sigh, I finally opened my system panel to receive my rewards—one from Ollivander's, and two from the Magical Menagerie.

[Ding! Congratulations, Host, for acquiring the talent: Rapid Multi-Target Spellcasting.]

[Ding! Congratulations on obtaining the Druidic Bloodline.]

[Ding! Congratulations on receiving: A Fully Healed Nagini.]

The first two rewards made me jolt upright on the bed, nearly knocking Venom off my shoulders.

The last one… well, let's not talk about that just yet.

I accepted the first two rewards with glee. The Rapid Multi-Target Spellcasting talent was a dream come true for a duelist—it meant I could cast up to five spells at once, each aimed at a different opponent. Imagine using Expelliarmus, Stupefy, Bombarda, Protego, and Impedimenta simultaneously—five enemies frozen or blasted before they even got a chance to draw their wands.

And the Druidic Bloodline... it was incredible.

Not only did it grant me the ability to communicate with animals, but it also made me a natural-born Animagus. I could transform into any animal, as many times as I wished, without ever requiring a wand or potion. I was already fantasizing about turning into a majestic hawk and soaring through the skies—but one glance at the clock told me it was far too late for flying practice. With a heavy sigh, I suppressed the thought for now.

For a brief moment, I hesitated. Stacking bloodlines wasn't a common thing. But the system had assured me earlier that having multiple bloodlines wouldn't harm me in any way. If anything, it would expand my potential. So I trusted it.

Still, my gaze drifted to the corner of the system inventory. One box contained Ariana Dumbledore's soul and the box beside it had Nagini complete free from bloodline curse.

Thinking, my eyes wandered to the edit live broadcast sub system. A thought entered my mind. I quickly edited a small video and set the time for broadcast.

I selected five special viewers. Each chosen for a reason. And then, with a smirk tugging at my lips, I hit "Send."

I imagined their shocked faces. Their gasps. Their disbelief.

And with that comforting thought, I pulled the covers up to my chin, curled up beside Venom, and drifted into sleep—ready for whatever madness tomorrow had in store.
