Chapter 20 - CHAPTER 20

ISAAC grunts in dismissal and then looks at the messages on ISAAC's phone. ISAAC doesn't wish to speak to him.

And as forecasted, after a few minutes, Domenico becomes annoyed waiting for KYOLINE DIEGO to finalize ISAAC's order. "See you around, KYOLINE DIEGO," he yells with the flick of the hand. Men like that bore quickly when they're no longer being serviced.

She nods to him before she proceeds with ISAAC's instruction.

ISAAC doesn't know why, but KYOLINE DIEGO is a mystery to ISAAC, and her vagueness is entirely maddening. She's a riddle. ISAAC wants to know everything single thing that goes through her mind, every conceivable reason behind every one of her actions, and every single little detail that gets her heart beating.

While ISAAC waits, ISAAC's eyes land on the vase of red roses on the top of the bar. ISAAC's fingers dance with the desire to tear out the petals. Red roses, soft petal tops, stinging thorns…

She places ISAAC's drink in front of ISAAC, shaking ISAAC out of ISAAC's reverie. "Here's your drink. And mind your paws off the roses this time please."

ISAAC watches her walk over to her colleague. "I'm going on my break," she says, and with that, she grabs her bag from under the bar and heads outside.

After a few minutes, ISAAC decides ISAAC needs a smoke and heads out to the smoking area.

KYOLINE DIEGO barely spares ISAAC a glance as ISAAC stands next to her.

ISAAC hopes she's not still angry about TENZ JER'SEY. "You know, you shouldn't waste your time crying over that dumbass."

"I'm not," she snaps.

"Hey, I'm just saying that he's not worth it and?

But before ISAAC can say another word, she pulls a book out of the bag slung over her shoulder and smashes it into ISAAC's chest. ISAAC takes it from her, glances at the cover, and reads the title aloud. "How To Ditch That Loser And Live A Life That Leaves Him Behind."

And hey, ISAAC can't help but smile—a real smile. And ISAAC'm even impressed.

"I'm not mourning him, so don't worry about me."

ISAAC smokes silently for a couple of minutes puffing on cigarettes while she scrolls through her phone.

"So," ISAAC speaks slowly, "I was wondering if perhaps you could let me take you out for a drink sometime?"

A couple of seconds elapse and she exhales slowly. "I don't think so."

ISAAC is about to sneer when ISAAC freezes. "Wait! What did you just say?"

"I said no."

"But no one ever tells me no," ISAAC brags.

She smirks at ISAAC. "I've got three golden rules in life. Rule one, never go out with a cop."

"Yeah, but you know now that I'm not a cop," ISAAC snaps. "Doesn't matter because rule two still holds true."

"Rule two?"

"Yeah. Rule two, never go out with a made man."

"You went out with TENZ JER'SEY," ISAAC grits.

"Two is a relatively new rule that I devised following TENZ JER'SEY," she shrugs.

"Oh, all right. I consider 'assassin' more my professional description than 'made man.' Surely, rule two doesn't exclude me?— "

"And rule three," she interrupts. "Don't go out with a liar." ISAAC opens ISAAC's mouth in indignation but closes it again when ISAAC realizes ISAAC hasn't got a comeback for that one. Because deep within, ISAAC knows she's lying. Omission is lying. ISAAC've been lying so long it's second nature. ISAAC tells ISAAC'sself ISAAC does it because as a hitman, ISAAC has to keep ISAAC's actions and movements under wraps. But ISAAC knows it's more than that. And ISAAC knows that ISAAC's lying is also a way of keeping people away from the real ISAAC.

She walks past ISAAC, but ISAAC clings to her arm so that she will not leave. ISAAC is not ready to let her go. "What are you doing with Domenico?" ISAAC whispers.

"Nothing. He was being friendly."

Friendly, ISAAC's butt.

ISAAC's going to give the book back to her once ISAAC decides to read through it. "This manual seems quite comprehensive," ISAAC remarks as ISAAC leafs through the contents page. "I have to say I'm impressed you've got through all these stages. Chapter one, shock; chapter two, distress; chapter three, denial; chapter four, mourning; chapter five, mourning?"

"Nah, I skipped directly to chapter eleven."

ISAAC's brow furrows as ISAAC's gaze drops to chapter eleven entitled 'Revenge and Retaliation.'

"Uh, KYOLINE DIEGO, chapter eleven states here that this is a list of don'ts."

She rolls her shoulders. "The book wouldn't have mentioned revenge and retaliation if it really didn't want you to go down that road." Then a glint lights up her green eyes, making them sparkle even more than their normal brightness.

"Wot?" ISAAC inquires, as if he needs to be told what she's thinking.

She shakes her inky locks over the shoulder. "I bought cans of tuna, and I sewed bits of fish into the hem of every TENZ JER'SEY's pants before I returned the spare key to his flat."

And ISAAC can't help ISAAC'sself from laughing out loud. Jesus, what the hell is wrong with ISAAC? ISAAC rarely gives a genuine smile or laugh, yet ISAAC've done both within the last five minutes and all because of this one girl.

"I'm also thinking about going around and burning down his house tomorrow while he's at work," she adds.

ISAAC's eyes nearly burst out of ISAAC's head. "Okay, KYOLINE DIEGO, as much as ISAAC'm loving the way you're speaking up for yourself, ISAAC'm one hundred and ten percent sure that the self-help book didn't intend for you to be an arsonist."

"Only joking," she laughs.

Her laugh does something to ISAAC, and ISAAC'm going to say something when ISAAC notices she tenses as she leans back against the wall.

And all at once, it gets all screwy between them.

What in the devil's brought this on?

She blinks at ISAAC. "I wish you would stop staring at me."

ISAAC flicks ash off ISAAC's cigarette. "Staring at someone barely counts as that. You're a pretty confident girl, so why are you acting so stilted around me now?"

"Who says I'm ill at ease?"

ISAAC smiles silently and shakes ISAAC's head. "Do you always answer a question with a question? Or hide something?"

She shifts from one leg to the other, and ISAAC finds ISAAC's eyes running over her long legs and up to the hem of her short dress. "Is it because of the dress you stole on?

A flush comes to her cheeks, but she keeps her face impassive. "Why on earth would you assume I stole my dress? I am employed, so I have the means to buy things."

ISAAC provides a small smile. "If you say so."

She steps to step around ISAAC to go back in, and ISAAC catches her wrist to pull her back towards ISAAC, using her shock to turn her around so that the back of her is pressed into the stucco wall of the KASH MANCHESTER.

ISAAC spins ISAAC's body around and bangs ISAAC's other hand into the wall, holding her caught between ISAAC's bony arms.

She jams as far into the wall as she can.

But she has nowhere to go. And ISAAC likes having her trapped in ISAAC's arms too much to let her go…

Her eyes track ISAAC's hand as ISAAC lifts it languidly to her face.

Pressing ISAAC's finger against her chin, ISAAC tilts her head back to ISAAC. And ISAAC lets ISAAC's gaze drop to her lips for a few torturous moments.

Her breath hitches.

ISAAC's free hand caresses down her bare arm before tracing along to the bend of her waist.

ISAAC's head tilts to her throat. "I adore your gold dress," ISAAC whispers in the bowl of her ear as ISAAC brushes against her hip.

She let out a hasty breath, her eyes flying wide in their green depths. "It's not gold. It's called Bronze Breeze," she whispers.

ISAAC pushes ISAAC's hand through her hair, not caring if ISAAC'm is ruining it. ISAAC's eyes travel slowly across her voluptuous breasts rising under the metal fabric, down to where the dress leaves off to display her smooth, rounded thighs.

And drawing ISAAC's mouth to hers, ISAAC presses ISAAC's lips to hers.

Her palms clamp on ISAAC's chest for a few moments, but as ISAAC seduces her mouth, she surrenders to ISAAC, welcoming ISAAC's tongue with lavish sweeps of her own.

ISAAC's kisses are assertive and firm. ISAAC works her hard nipples, molding them in ISAAC's hands and enjoying the feel of her nipples firming beneath the soft fabric as she bends her back, throwing her head against the wall and pushing her tits into ISAAC's large hands.

ISAAC is not in the mood to put ISAAC's mouth over her nipples and pull on the hard peaks with ISAAC's lips to cause them to protrude.

ISAAC's tongue follows the rim of her ear shell to the base of her neck, and she moans as ISAAC's mouth reaches the base of her throat and nuzzles her.

She shivers as ISAAC runs ISAAC's hands down her spine and along her butt. And as she wriggles against ISAAC, ISAAC becomes aware of her skirt moving up her legs.

ISAAC's so goddamn difficult for her. ISAAC's hands grasp the hem of her dress and push under it, making it crease against her waist.

Grasping her ass cheeks, ISAAC drives her body into ISAAC's cock, making her sense ISAAC's want for her and making her groan as it against her clit.

ISAAC's fingers trace the lace of her thonged thong, yearning to rip it off before ISAAC collapses to ISAAC's knees between her thighs.

But ISAAC must do what ISAAC was going to do anyway first…

ISAAC snakes ISAAC's fingers along her exposed ass cheeks and around the small of her back.

"Bingo," ISAAC growls in her ear as ISAAC's fingers wrap around what ISAAC'm looking for.

She blinks her eyes open. "What are you doing?"

"I don't believe customers wear a security tag on a dress they paid for," ISAAC snarls.

"A what?" she tries to play dumb. "The plastic strip on your dress that you're trying to hide. How did you get it off the store without setting off the alarm?"

"I have ways," she growls before stopping herself.

"So, you're admitting to being a thief?"

"What's it to you, Valentino?" She tugs down her dress and dips under ISAAC's arm to make her escape.
