Chapter 25 - 24 The Old Library

Inside Lukas's family house, there was a private library hidden in the basement. This underground room had been a treasure trove of knowledge and antique items for generations.

The basement was lit only by the faint light that streamed through small stained glass windows near the ceiling. This light cast a dramatic effect on the room, highlighting the fine dust particles floating in the air.

All around the space were wooden shelves filled with dusty old books. These books ranged across genres, from classic novels to ancient encyclopedias. Some had leather covers, others were draped with cobwebs, left untouched for years.

Among them were the writings of Lukas's late grandfather and his friends, detailing tragic events they had experienced. These were Lukas's main target. He planned to gather all of his grandfather's notes to uncover and understand the truth behind the diamond soul.

Besides books, the room also held antiques. There was a chair with deep red upholstery and intricate carvings, antique jewelry, an old wooden table for reading and writing, and a vintage wall clock that ticked softly.

The room had a distinct scent, a mixture of old paper, aging wood, and underground air. This aroma created a deep sense of nostalgia and history.

Silence and peace filled the library. The only sounds were the soft rustling of books being moved on or off the shelves.

This atmosphere made it an ideal place for reflection, reading, or studying ancient knowledge.

The basement walls were decorated with old paintings, ancient maps, and faded family photos. Every object held a story and its own place in history.

"I never imagined this room belonged to my family. For years I never cared about any of these stupid things. But after seeing the truth before my eyes, I now believe everything my grandfather once said was real."

Lukas stacked his grandfather's notebooks on a table, then began placing his selected books into a black backpack.

"I'll read them in my office. It's too quiet and creepy down here," he whispered.

After finishing, Lukas slung the backpack over his shoulder. He pressed a hidden button to open a secret door concealed behind the wall.

"I hope I find enough clues. I won't let Sandra get hurt. I won't lose her or our child," he muttered.

After climbing the stairs and closing the secret library door, Lukas hurried to his office. He unpacked the books again and started flipping through them one by one, searching for the volume that focused on the diamond soul.

"Lukas"

Just before he could begin, Sandra's voice rang out. It sounded urgent. Maybe she was startled that he had gone out in the middle of the night without telling her.

"Lukas, where are you"

Lukas quickly stepped out of his office and met his wife. He stopped Sandra just as she was about to enter the room. He did not want her to see the books.

"What's wrong San Sorry I got up in the middle of the night. There's some work I needed to finish."

"I just wanted to make sure you were home." Sandra turned away, feeling embarrassed for worrying too much.

It must have looked strange. Sandra usually scolded and ignored him, but tonight, when Lukas was not beside her, she had screamed like a madwoman.

"Come on, go back to bed," Lukas said as he effortlessly picked her up. "Thanks for worrying about me."

"I wasn't worried..."

"I love you so much. I never thought I'd meet the grandson of Grandpa George like this."

"What are you talking about"

"We were destined to meet and be together. Your grandfather told me. I thought he was joking back then. But now I know it's real." Lukas smiled sweetly at Sandra, who was left speechless.

Sandra looked away. She knew it too. They had been destined to meet and be together. But sadly, the end of their story had always been tragic and painful.

"Can fate be changed" Sandra asked.

"I think it can."

"If we make changes, right Then I want you to divorce me and change this fate. Please If you already know the truth, then you should also know I'm not truly your wife."

"If your soul has merged with Sandra's, then you are Sandra. You are my wife. Because you came and made me fall in love, now you must take responsibility."

"No..."

"If we're going to change fate, let's do it together." Lukas offered with teary eyes.

Sandra slowly shook her head. "Believe me, our separation is the best choice."

"That's what you think."

"Please understand, Lukas. You don't know anything. This is the only way to break the cursed fate. Don't be stubborn."

"San..."

"Let's get divorced. Why are you being so stubborn"

"You'll have to step over my dead body to divorce me. I won't let you go no matter what."

"Yesterday I loved you, but now I don't. I'm in love with Thomas."

"I won't allow that."

"Aren't you ashamed" Sandra chuckled as Lukas set her down. His expression darkened and became frightening.

"Who would want to be with a wishy-washy man who loves to hurt women's feelings" Sandra pushed him. "I love Thomas, not you Hear me I imagine growing old with him, not you."

"I still won't let you go."

"Shameless You're forcing a woman who doesn't love you anymore to stay Married life is too long to spend with someone like you"

"And a lifetime is too long for me to regret losing you. I will never let us part."

"Lukas..."

"Ssshhh... go to sleep," Lukas whispered as he hugged her tightly with his eyes closed, refusing to listen to anything Sandra tried to say. Even her rejection of his embrace.

"Why don't you ever understand, Lukas"

"I've never understood why you suddenly asked for a divorce without a clear reason. I've tried to change. I've been serious about this marriage. Am I really that unworthy of a second chance"

"Yes, you are. And you're not even ashamed to say I asked for a divorce without a reason"

Lukas grabbed his hair in frustration, then released his hold on Sandra. He stormed out of the bedroom and locked himself in his office.

Sandra sobbed quietly, feeling guilty for her words and actions. But wasn't this the best way The only way to rewrite their fate

Elsewhere, someone smiled while staring at their reflection in the mirror.

But that smile was not one of happiness. Moments later, they punched the glass, shattering it into pieces.

Blood that should have spilled immediately began to heal. The wounds vanished without a trace.

"My body is starting to turn red. I can't let this continue. I don't want to return to my true form or that place. I must stay human," the figure muttered as they picked up a foundation bottle and began applying it to cover the reddened parts of their body.

"I must cover it as best I can, or that woman will discover my identity. Sandra is the only key to making me immortal."
