Cherreads

Chapter 4 - Mischief

With the blinding sunlight shining on my eyes, I instinctively raise my hand to cover the glare as I sit up with a soft yawn. I shift my blurry vision across the room and soon remember that all throughout the night was simply spent cleaning all the unnecessarily bought merch, clothing, and food. It was halfway done but hey, progress is progress. As I stand up and start to move around, a sharp ache spikes along my back. I guess sleeping on the floor isn't good for my posture...or my health. On top of that, I also smell like sweat and dust. I should probably clean myself up in turn-

I bound over towards the upper floor of the suite and search for the essentials. The shower/bath, spare clothes, and a towel. I let out another yawn as I step into the bedroom in search for the latter first. The door with my name signed over it swings open as I push and my eyes immediately dart over to the strange sight on the bed. Strange, I thought this was destroyed along with me, but I guess with my return, it came back as well. The intricate design of silk and linen, dyed in raven black yet carefully crafted to where it could still shine against the light. It seems to be laid out, perfect in it's condition and well kept. My hanbok and gat.

Slow in my approach, I admire the clothes from a distance, hard to believe that they still existed anyway considering these clothes were a norm given to the more humanoid demons under Gwi-ma's influence. For it to still be here is yet another mystery that requires solving but...I can't help but smile at the fact that it did return with me. I would hate to walk out without these bad boys. I think to myself, causing a soft chuckle to leave my lips; yet as I continue to admire the pair, my hands brushing across the smooth exterior of the linen, I seem to rub along something poking out of one of the sleeves. A small trinket.

With a brow raised in confusion, my mind seemed to have wondered if the chain bangle I wore during our last performance also returned, but from my own memories, I remember it just being a random piece of chain I found in the dressing room. It fit with the rest of the outfit so I thought it was a fine addition. It was.

I lifted the sleeves and reached inside, grabbing the trinket and bringing it closer for a better inspection. As my hands open, my heart begins to sink. My body feeling flush as I stare into this trinket. Now I know the higher beings are just teasing me at this point, as the trinket that lays within my palm is none other than the norigae I received from Rumi back on our mountaintop date.

A smile immediately grows across my face as I rub my thumb across the intricate knot that adorns it's face. Seems like everything is reminding me of or about her. Funny how fate works. Although it is strange that this norigae was brought back along with my hanbok as I specifically remember giving it to the tiger for safe keeping. Whatever could have happened. I guess it's not safer here with me.

I put the norigae to the dresser first before picking up a fresh bath of clothes that seemed to fit and a fluffy towel before moving along to the bathroom to freshen up. It has been forever since I did visit a shower. 400+ years of underworld musk does not do well for my skin and hair. Relatively speaking-

Once finished, I dried off and walked back to the dresser to place the norigae on my wrist. There is no way I am losing this thing after all we've been through. As I start moving down the stairs, my mind begins to wander about the plan to visit Rumi once again. The simplest way was to visit her in one of her shows but then again, considering the entire debacle involving the Honmoon and Gwi-ma, I doubt they wouldn't take a break. So how am I supposed to meet a global superstar?

I let out a soft sigh as a growl echoes from behind me. "Hello Tiger" I greet it as I grab a cup to brew a fresh batch of coffee, my mind still fogging with plans, quiet filling the space for a few seconds before it finally clicked. My back straightened out as I swiftly spun around to check.

"Tiger?!" I say again as right there, with a bag of food in it's mouth, stolen straight from the boxes, was none other than the Derpy Tiger I consider a son and their inseparable pair the bird. I stand there stunned as the tiger growls with a muffled mouth before it starts to sit down and start it's plane shift. Wait a second it can still plane shift? WAIT THAT DOESN'T MATTER RIGHT NOW. MY TICKET TO RUMI IS RIGHT THERE.

"Wait!" I yell, running towards the pair as they officially sink to the floor. Disappearing. "Damn it!" I hit the carpet in frustration before bouncing back up and tripping over some boxes in my hurry to find where they could have gone. My face plastered against the window as my eyes dart around the various streets and rooftops that cover the city before my eyes land on the faintest blue shine on a rooftop not too far from here.

"There you two are. Time to get my sons back"
