Chapter 3 - Chapter 3- Killing a rabbit

The sky mist art which came from the sky mist sect, was one of the plenty arts they possessed. This particular sky mist art was for cultivators in the Qi accumulation realm.

Grey pondered for a few seconds before he felt that he should continue to practice the sky mist art.

Grey closed his eyes and sat down cross-legged.

'Am supposed to sit down Cross-legged right?'

As he began to breathe in according to the directions of the Jade slip. His breathing came and fell after several seconds and a small amount of mist came out from his mouth.

Grey's faint awareness allowed him to sense the tiny existences in the air, as they were quietly absorbed into his body. Those quiet existences blended completely into his weak soul. This fusion was neither fast nor substantial, yet he could still sense that this fusion was gradually increasing his cultivation base. Although it was only slightly increasing, this increase was stable and persistent.

He was so immersed in cultivating that several hours had passed and he didn't know when the sky darkened.

When he opened his eyes and saw the dark red clouds, he was surprised. "I cultivated for that long!? But I didn't feel it took so long."

His gaze then went back to the Jade slip that was on the ground. The Jade slip had said that when new learners started to cultivate the sky mist art, they wouldn't be able to tell time. And what may seem like minutes, could be hours.

Grey's breathing increased and he noticed that his body felt refreshed and full of energy. He even felt cleansed.

'I have to be able to regulate my Cultivation, if not I could totally spend days just cultivating which could be bad.

Not only that, but I do not feel as hungry as I was before.'

He also noticed that his previous hunger had reduced and couldn't help but sigh. A moment later, his stomach grumbled, as if reminding him it didn't want to be left out.

"Ah, I'm so hungry. I need to find food." Even though he searched the whole house, he did not find anything edible and his stomach continued to grumble.

'In my memories, I only eat meat and wild fruits found in the forbidden forest. Sorry tummy, but you'll have to wait a bit for food.'

He then sat down silently to cultivate and when he felt it was morning, he opened his eyes. He then sighed but his breath turned to mist. That was the second level of Sky Mist art.

As he stood up and walked outside, he took a glance at the growing trees and shook his head. "How did I end up here?"

And then a short while later, he was cautiously roaming the eerie forest of the corroded zone. He took a glance at the sky to the red clouds that offered no warmth at all.

Instead, everywhere was cold and chilling with even some areas of the corroded zone covered in fog. But he stop to look. From his memories, creatures that lurked in the fog were very strong. As strong as the Minotaur that killed him.

When he thought about the Minotaur, his rubbed the back of his head. He did not want to die again.

He shook his head subtly and continued on his way. A few minutes later when he was getting out of breath, he saw a small black rabbit at the entrance of an underground burrow.

In the corroded zones, not all animals evolved or Mutate. They were some that stayed normal.

This rabbit was at the second level of Qi accumulation. With his strength he would have no trouble with catching it whatsoever. But... He didn't know how to catch a rabbit.

He crouched down by the side of a tree trunk as he began to ponder his next actions. He had never caught a rabbit before. And he didn't know how the hell he was going to skin it.

So he wasted several minutes and the rabbit warily entered back into the underground burrow. "Think Grey, how are you going to catch a rabbit?" He was thinking about going home, but when his stomach grumbled loudly, he sighed and decided to look for another burrow.

Not long after, he came across another rabbit burrow and pulled out the knife he had gotten from his pouch.

He breathed in and out for a few seconds before silently walking towards the rabbit. His gaze shaky and restrained, but calm.

'Come on... It's just a rabbit. You don't have to be afraid of a rabbit.'

He repeated to himself several times in his head and when he got close enough that getting any closer would alert the animal, he rushed forward while trying to be as quiet as possible.

But the rabbit seemed to have sensed him and escaped before he could get close.

"Argh, Dammit."

He then left to find another rabbit burrow and continued his actions again and again. But each time, the rabbit always escaped and he cursed.

Until his seventh try, when the rabbit tried to run away. He grabbed it harshly and held it by the ears. The rabbit struggled but Grey did not let go.

"Finally, I've caught one. But what do I do now?" After contemplating his next actions, he used his knife and slit the throat of the rabbit.

Hot blood sprayed him in the face, and he almost let the rabbit go. But tightened his grip. Under the strong arms of Grey, the rabbit struggled and even tried to bite him. But in the end it stopped struggling and it lay limply on the floor.

"I just killed a rabbit..." With shaky hands, he wiped the blood off his face and couldn't help but shudder. But when his stomach grumbled again, he instead licked his lips hungrily.

"Sorry buddy..."

It was noon when he returned to his dilapidated house, as he kept the dead rabbit on the floor he brought out a coal stove and began to set the fire from his basic knowledge.

Even though the previous owner of this body had killed many rabbits, this was the first time Grey had taken something else's life. So he felt depressed.

He skinned the rabbit and hung it's sliced meat over the coal stove. He washed his hands with water from his water bottle and sighed when the water finished before he could wash his hands clean.

There were many rivers and lakes in the corroded zones, but most of them were unclean and undrinkable.

The only fresh water sources were guraded by strong creatures and getting water was hard. After checking the meat to make sure it was roasting, he left the dilapidated house to find water.
