Chapter 32 - The Five‑Headed Dragon

Who exactly is Daimon Kōgorō?

First off—there's no brother or junior monster-fighter named Daimon Ei, nor a nephew Daimon Dai. In the anime, he's an executive appointed by GōZaburō Kaiba to support Seto Kaiba's early rise. He helped build Seto's business, merging it into KaibaCorp. And… that's it.

In a series where conflicts are resolved by duels, his business acumen is hinted at but never shown much. Yet, his portrayal leans heavily into the typical corporate elite stereotype:

Sharp insight, excellent memory.

Yōu Míng watched Kōgorō stand there, arms crossed in a classic Sōka pose.

"So my guess was right: you really are a duelist not to be underestimated."

"So you mean you're saying you're more impressive than me because you recognized that?" Yōu Míng smirked.

Silence. With most of his face covered by machinery, Kōgorō's expression remained unreadable. But Yōu Míng had seen this before—it was the arrogant, condescending posture of someone who believes they're superior.

"Arrogant. Selfish."

In the anime, Kōgorō is the proudest of the "Big Five"—always acting like he's above the others. He even looked down on them, believing himself to be their strongest and natural leader… or at least that's how Yōu Míng remembered it.

He realized it didn't really matter any more.

"We've come this far…"

Yōu Míng glanced at the drifting fog and then at the floating abstract stone slab behind Kōgorō—a crude carving of something with five heads, clearly ancient and primitive.

He took a deep breath and spoke:

"Look, you didn't bring me here for small talk or to flex your superiority, right?"

Kōgorō stiffened, caught off-guard:

"Tch… sharp-tongued kid."

"Seems you don't even know what's going on!" Sōgorō raised his voice, chest out.

"You need to learn to respect your elders!"

Even with folded arms, Yōu Míng noticed Sōgorō standing straighter, as if ready to look down on someone.

And… nothing happened.

The murky darkness remained. The slab stayed unmoved.

But then, as Yōu Míng looked back at Kōgorō, he noticed him sticking his neck out, looking skyward—like a duck that suddenly spotted a fish.

Yōu Míng couldn't help but ask:

"What are you doing?"

Silence again. But soon, an eerie stillness filled the room. Finally, Kōgorō's voice, cold and mechanical, came from beneath the armor:

"To stand firm against the might of the Evil Dragon… you're stronger than I imagined."

"Huh?"

"Given time, you might carve out a place in this world."

"That's not…"

"But unfortunately… it all ends here."

"Wait!"

"Blame the timing, kid."

Yōu Míng realized words were useless now. He looked to the stone slab behind Sōgorō, noticing thick black mist enveloping it.

"Great Evil Dragon… grant me your power!"

As Sōgorō chanted, the mist formed into a monstrous figure—the Five‑Headed Dragon.

Think Big Five meets evil dragon. It had five heads—earth, water, fire, wind, and darkness—writhing like serpents across a massive body. Each head looked ready to devour Yōu Míng at any second.

"You will be its sacrifice!" boomed Kōgorō.

Yōu Míng flinched—and for a moment, felt uneasy. But this was no cataclysmic fantasy… it was a duel.

He drew his duel pistol, fixed it to his wrist, and the green light flickered on, reconstructing the duel disk's form.

Almost instantly, the whispering voices around him ceased. The candlelight and fog stopped moving. Time itself seemed to freeze.

Facing down the five-headed dragon, and the towering figure of Kōgorō looming over him, Yōu Míng calmly spoke:

"Duel."
