Chapter 15 - Akira’s Brutal Side

Chapter 15: Akira's Brutal Side

Step by slow step, Akira advanced, the soles of his shoes tapping against the pavement as he stood over the serpent-man now bound tightly by the golden Chains of Heaven. His expression was cold and lethal—an executioner's gaze locked onto prey that had dared to insult him.

They'd mistaken him for a girl. Again.

The blonde thug earlier had been irritating, sure—but Akira hadn't been ready to kill a human. But this… this wasn't human.

A Stray Devil was more monster than man. Killing them didn't weigh on him—it was progress. A level-up. Yesterday, the blood didn't disgust him; it thrilled him.

Maybe the blood of a hunter had always been in him, restrained only by modern laws… or something deeper. But he felt no guilt in dispatching a Stray Devil.

"Damn you—calling me a pretty girl to trap me. How dare you."

His voice turned darker than coal, each word laced with venom.

And of course, right then, Rias, Akeno, Koneko, and Kiba arrived—unintentionally catching a glimpse of Akira's more violent nature.

Rias looked slightly uneasy, caught off guard by the sight and the sharp tone of Akira's voice. Talk about bad timing—this was their first time seeing Shin's brutal streak up close.

Akeno, peeking from behind her hand, smirked—with just the faintest flush in her cheeks. Koneko and Kiba stood frozen, uncertain.

Akira paused mid-motion. Great. Perfect timing. Probably planned, wasn't it?

"You deserve to be filleted alive," he muttered through clenched teeth, voice low and chilling.

The chains twitched—then lunged.

Three of them drove through the air and slammed into the Stray Devil's wrists and the tip of his tail. Bones cracked with sickening precision, crushed under divine force.

The serpent shrieked in pure agony, his screams slicing through the air like broken glass.

Rias frowned. Without a protective barrier in place, such noise could easily have caused a panic in the surrounding neighborhood.

"You feel that? Pain?" Akira's voice grew colder, quieter. "That was just a warm-up. Your real hell's just beginning, scumbag. How dare you lure me under false pretenses."

Another chain pierced through the devil's elbows. The sound of bone shattering echoed down the empty alley.

The serpent convulsed, shrieking louder. "AAARGH!! KILL ME! DO IT!"

He was crying now—his agony so unbearable he begged for death.

Akira didn't flinch. "Kill you? Who said I'll kill you now? This… is just the appetizer, loser. You'll savor it till the end."

Another volley—chains hammered down upon his lower tail, crushing vertebrae one by one until the creature's lower half was nothing but a pulpy mess. The Stray Devil twitched, trembled, and finally fell limp.

Rias and her peerage stood frozen, unsure whether to intervene or continue watching. It was shocking. The soft-spoken, polite guy they'd met just yesterday… was capable of something like this?

Only Akeno looked thoroughly delighted. Her eyes sparkled. Her smile widened. Bloodlust hung in the air like perfume, and she breathed it in with open fascination.

"Shin-kun—enough. Finish him."

Rias's voice finally broke the tension. She stepped forward. Her tone, though calm, carried authority.

Akira turned to her with a charming smile—chilling behind the curtain of blood and the shattered corpse at his feet. "Oh, Rias-senpai—good evening~"

Koneko flinched at the sight. So much for the calm upperclassman she'd seen earlier.

Rias shifted uneasily. "Ah… Shin-kun, maybe that's enough?"

Akira nodded. "Well, I'm satisfied."

Without even glancing back, he flicked his hand.

A single chain surged forth and obliterated the Stray Devil's head. A crimson mist bloomed in the night air—like petals caught in a windstorm.

A faint chime echoed within his mind.

[Ding!]

So it worked. One more percent. It really was tied to his opponent's strength.

Yesterday's Stray Devil barely registered. But this one? This one had counted.

Rias furrowed her brows at the savage final strike. Could someone like this truly be trusted?

Not because what he did was wrong—no. In the Devil world, power was everything. Mercy was weakness. The strong ruled. The weak begged.

"Ara~ Shin-kun, you're incredible. And these chains… absolutely stunning~"

Akeno stepped forward, her voice soft and syrupy—but there was no hiding the predatory gleam in her eyes. Watching her senpai dismantle a monster so elegantly, with such ruthless efficiency? It awakened something primal in her.

The Chains of Heaven glimmered in the moonlight—drenched in blood, yet divine. Lethal, but beautiful.

Akira didn't miss the way Rias watched him.

She stepped forward, standing beside the remains of the serpent devil. A magic circle flared beneath her feet—crimson and intricate.

Then flames erupted—violent, engulfing the corpse in a vortex of destruction. Within seconds, nothing remained.

That was the power of the House of Bael. Pure destruction. Legacy from the original King Bael himself. A dying bloodline, but still fearsome in her.

Only two real heirs remained—Sirzechs Lucifer, one of the current Satans, and Rias Gremory, whose mother hailed directly from Bael's lineage.

This moment? It was no accident. Rias had chosen to display her strength, too.

"Shin-kun, you're really powerful," she said gently. "I was sent from the Underworld to eliminate that thing… and yet, you beat me to it."

"I only reacted in self-defense, Rias-senpai," Akira replied smoothly.

Her eyes narrowed slightly. "Hm? You know who I am?"

Akira didn't hesitate. "This afternoon, Sona-kaichou called me. So… I've heard."

"I see. So she's already told you about me."

"Yes—Rias Gremory-senpai."

Hearing her full name from him confirmed it—Sona had given him everything. The misunderstanding was intentional. And now, Akira had set the tempo.

Rias took a breath, then looked directly at him. "So… what do you think? Want to join my peerage? Be a part of my family?"

A direct offer.

Akeno's eyes lit up, full of possibility. If he joined… who knew how many chances she'd get to tease him, flirt with him, seduce him?

But Akira only smiled faintly.

"Sorry, Rias-senpai. I'm not ready to reincarnate as a Devil."

"I understand. Too bad," she said softly.

But she wasn't disheartened. Neither she nor Sona were the type to give up easily. Especially not when it came to someone like him.

He was only in Year 2. There was still time.

Akeno leaned closer, her voice sultry. "Shin-kun, if you have time, drop by and chat. Your performance earlier—truly beautiful~"

Akira gave a nod. "I'd like that."

"Then I'll look forward to it. I'll give you a warm welcome~"

"I'm looking forward to it."

Rias watched the exchange closely. No need to command Akeno—she was clearly interested on her own.

After their brief talk, Akira didn't linger. He left.

Yes, Rias's beauty and presence were magnetic. But power was the key to everything. Without it, he had no right to pursue anything—not desires, not fantasies. Without strength, there was nothing.

That night, he stopped by a local store and bought some vegetables. Thanks to today's earnings, he could eat something decent.

Still, he knew this wasn't sustainable. Even with powers, being in another world meant working part-time jobs to survive.

Underage and lacking documentation, he'd have to settle for small jobs—maybe convenience stores, maybe tutoring.

That night, he ate while watching TV. Too broke for a new phone, but for now… his life was quiet. Peaceful. Stable.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in Kuoh City…

"So this evening, Shin-kun single-handedly defeated a Stray Devil who'd slain two Devils?" Sona sat behind her desk, fingers steepled beneath her chin.

Tsubaki nodded. "Yes, President."

"I expected as much. Even if the target was careless, you still need power to win."

"And Rias-sama offered him a spot in her peerage," Tsubaki added.

"And he refused?"

"Correct."

Sona smiled softly, a glint in her eyes. "Fufu… thought so."

She had predicted it. If she couldn't win him over yet, then Rias couldn't either.

Because there was something she had sensed.

Akira's ambition.

He wasn't a man who would live under another's shadow.

And that wasn't a bad thing.

A human with a Sacred Gear was already rare and powerful. But Shin Akira… he was something more.

But even humans had limits. One day, he would reach his.

And when that day came…

That would be the moment to claim him.
