BRIELLE's POV
Days without Alfred haven't been so bad. Though, he didn't call through out or text to check in. But I was still fine.
Today was a good day at the cafe, I had lots of customers and Sia was so sweet and nice to have around. After my afternoon classes I went back to the penthouse and called my landlord, but she didn't pick up.
Then I texted her to know the water pipe update and she texted back saying it would soon be fixed and I should just hang on to where I'm currently staying.
I heaved a sigh of relief and went to freshen up. I lay down on the bed and watched my Favourite show, love island.
I was enjoying my show and drinking cold cocoa when I heard the door open.
"Hello?"
No response.
Then Alfred walked into the room with a straight face.
"Oh hi." I said, still watching my show.
"What's up with you?"
"Not much, I've been good."
"Alright, there's something I need to tell you."
"How was your trip and your meeting?" He didn't respond. Rather, he puts his head down in frustration.
He must be tired of dealing with me.
He took a deep breath and finally said, "it was fine. Can I tell you what I have to tell you."
"Sorry."
I closed my tablet and switched my attention to Alfred.
"You need to go."
"G…g…go..? What does that mean?" I laughed a bit.
"Out of the house."
"Oh."
This information was the most shocking news of the year.
"I'm not kicking you out, look, things need to be get done, I need my space back for some time and I might be having serials of meetings which would be holding at me place." He said, holding my shoulders.
"No, it's fine, I completely understand. I already suspected it a long time ago. You use me as a sex puppet, travel with no calls or texts and now you come back and tell me to leave." Tears gathered in my eyes.
"No, no, you don't get it Brielle. you really don't. I already paid for the hotel you'll be staying in till your lodge issues are fixed. Please, I don't mean it to hurt you in any way."
He apologized?
I've never heard almighty Alfred apologize for anything, he's always right.
"So why don't you let me stay in the hotel then? I mean, which means normal guy would leave his hotel for another man's hotel?"
"It's not something I can explain to you right now."
"Give me the hotel keys, I need to leave now."
He opened his suitcase and handed me a card.
"Just swipe it."
"I know."
"So are you leaving now…tomorrow….next to…."
"Now." I said sassily.
"Okay, if you need anything at all just call me, okay."
I didn't give him a response. Rather, I start packing my bags to go. My luggages are usually packed in one place because I always had this mentality of putting all your clothes in one place or arranging your clothes always just in case an emergency arises.
I left the penthouse immediately I finished packing. When I got to my hotel room, I couldn't believe my eyes. The classiness and luxury in this room is a 10.
I give it to Alfred credit for this elegant and breathtaking room.
After minutes of admiring the room, I arrange my clothes and take a shower then proceeded to do my assignments.
I've been job hunting for some days now, not because I don't like my job but because I'll be doing my internship in another country, maybe my father's country, I don't know, but I wish it won't be somewhere far.
A part of me tells me Alfred is fucking another lady that's why he chased me out of his house. Maybe my time with him is up, just like Aria's was when I came and there's a new staff at the bar also.
Thoughts of why Alfred kicked me out ran through my head as I also battled with my school assignment and project.
ALFRED's POV
I wish I could tell her the real reasons why I told her to leave. I mean good for her, I swear but I can't appear vulnerable to her. I can't let her know I'm already having feelings for her.
She can't know the reason I didn't contact her through out my while away is because I'm actually getting attached to her and I do not want the past to repeat itself.
She can't know the reason I act cold and nonchalant towards her because that is my defense mechanism to feel better and stronger.
I really mean well for Brielle, I'll check up on her from time to time so she won't forget about me.
I pulled out a cigarette and lit it, listening to the cool jazz I just put on.
I sure will miss Brielle's company but I miss my space more. Finally alone to express myself as much as I like. As I enjoy my evening, an unknown text came in.
"You killed the one I love, now you'll be crushed."
"What?"
I inaudibly ask myself.
*********
I called Jake and Michael from the investigation department. They've also been good friends to me for a while now.
They arrived in no time and I showed them the text and told them to track the number.
"The number doesn't exist anymore boss." Jake said.
"Don't you dare lie to me young man! This number fucking texted me last night and all of a sudden it doesn't exist?" I barked.
"You should take some water boss, take a chill pill." Michael came from behind with a cup of water and face stuffed with cake.
I really needed some water to cool out so I collected the cup from Michael and drank the water.
"Look, we need to find this number, the person that sent it and everything about the person." I said, pacing around the room.
Suddenly another text came in with the same number.
"You'll regret what you did."
"Boys! Boys!! Boys!! Look. The number texted again, track it immediately." I hurriedly said.
They went for the number again on the laptop but finally raised up their heads with a look of disappointment of their faces.
"Still nothing boss, the person doing this is a pro in tech. It's obvious." Jake said.
I stumbled upon the GPS tracker I used earlier from my phone and something immediately clicked in my head.
"Wait a minute." I said.
"Guys take a look at this number and that check the similarities." I said and handed my phone over to Jake.
"There are no similarities boss, they're the same." Michael said.
"This number…. This is the guy I shot some days back. He tried to kidnap one of my workers."
"Are you sure he's dead?"
"Yes, I'm fucking sure, I shot him right in the head and he laid dead till I left."
"So who could it be?" Jake asked.
"Someone is spying on us. I need you to go to starview hotel on the next street. Tell the hotel manager to put cameras around this particular room, take the card."
"Alright boss." They said in unison and left immediately.
I received a last text from the same number.
"Game on."
