Chapter 4 - The heat

I stopped by the shop that served me that boring stew on the way home. I simply paid 5 coins and she served me the set. But instead of eating it, I used their spoon to slightly crush my bird eye chili, toss it into the stew, stirring it. All right in front of her. Followed by a spoonful. Better? Better.

But I didn't go for another spoonful. That would dirty the stew with my saliva. Instead, I pushed it to her with a nod. Go on, try it…

And it went horribly. She accidentally chewed the seeds too that I had to advise her to drink milk instead of water.

I remembered the days I was a salesperson before being a full-time professor, feeling nostalgic I asked: "Try selling it as the stew for the steeled. It does hurt a bit in your mouth right? Just a little."

As she recovers from the sting, I was greeted by her rage:

"Right? Would you have another spoonful?" I pushed the idea forward. Get addicted, like the rest of Asians in Earth.

It stings, it hurts, it made me sweat and made me wet.. But… But... Why do I feel like I would want more?

"You can actually find those in the forest. But don't get the wrong stuff. Or I can sell you some?" Urgh, I just realised I didn't plan this out earlier and how much should I sell?

Extra ingredients means another meal set. And this is definitely going with milk. It means more cost, but is that my business? No, it is the customer's pouch.

So why didn't she ask me how many or how much am I selling?

Maybe I should quit teaching these kids on how to use magic?

Nah. Just kidding. Who knows if people here will become so addicted to chilli and the kingdom declare it as illegal substance?

Still, I'd revisit the chili plant and relocate that whole thing by digging it out. Looks like I'm not only teaching kids magic but the world on how to eat.

I'd recommend against 1 chilli per bowl given how she reacted to the stew. But that's for tomorrow.

Ah, that's Ms. Mary.

"Good Morning Ms. Mary." I said as she turns around. Wow, she does look sleepy here. "You okay? Conducting class with that concentration might not be a good idea."

"Look at who should I thank for this." Mary replied. "There is literally nothing with your input of attributes."

"Nothing? Impossibru!" I am honestly shocked, "What is your input again?"

"Wavelength 12cm, 800 Watts, one minute." She replied damn confidently.

"12.23! And it was supposed to be 700 watts I said yesterday. Still, did you cast it on something?" Something should happen if it is liquid. From the looks of it, she didn't cast it on a metal surface. Phew.

"On my cup of milk? Wooden cup though. It did boil. But back to my question, there is no light here." She insisted.

That is the headache trying to communicate something to an adult who insists on what they believed.

"Some people also insisted ghosts existed even when they are invisible." I retorted.

"What do you mean? They ARE visible." She replied. "But it is not a common occurrence. Still, it needed light magic to purify."

So there are ghosts here.

"What other things that existed but humans need to exterminate, regardless of method, humane or not." Since we are in this species topic, why not? My triple science PHD doesn't include research on ghosts .

"From low-mid intelligence beings like Goblins and they have various evolution routes. From high intelligence parasites like Succubus and Vampires. They are the beings that controls land right next to human borders.

Specifically for our case, Winddale is actually a borderland. With demi-humans controlling the land on the other side. But they are more of neutral party who declined both alliance attempt initiated by our Kingdom Tomoya and the Demonic army."

Wow, I was wondering why is it so peaceful here. It is due to neutral party. Still, a neutral party can also mean full alert for us. Since they won't be stopping the Demonic army's advance. In fact, they can resupply there.

Peacetime is simply a duration meant to prepare for another war.

"Look, if you actually use that attribute on a goblin , you are going to boil them without them knowing it. But still, you have to be close enough like we are now to make it effective. For example, you can literally kill me right here right now with the attributes I mentioned earlier, but if I am at 10-20 steps further, or in another room. You still cannot do anything. Unless we really are at in immediate crisis, I cannot reveal the attributes for you to be a killing machine. Also, mana levels are also a question."

"Are you really the Norward we know of?" Mary asked.

"I guess not. I am just reacting to current input by everyone and mixed with some unknown insights that I didn't know of it's origin." It is a white lie.

"Say, if I were to join the imperial mage squad. Would you tell me the attributes?" She pushed the idea for my self-proclaimed lethal power. But no, it wasn't self-proclaimed.

"But I still have to refuse. You could even die if you simply first tried it." And me too, imagine you tried to fire gamma ray for a whole minute, the whole surrounding forest, or even some parts of the Winddale.

Not willing to entertain her persistence. I walked away.

"Where are you escaping to?" Mary sure sounded displeased.

"Class, we are late."
