The difference between sheep among wolves and a wolf among sheep…
…comes down to strength.
To Sarutobi Hiruzen and the ANBU, Yoru—now stripped of his powers—was a declawed tiger, helpless in their grasp.
But in Yoru's eyes?
This prison was paradise.
For a man who despised evil, walking into Konoha's dungeons was like a starving glutton stumbling into a brothel.
He was right at home.
Outside the cell, ANBU operatives smirked in the shadows.
Inside, a pack of vicious convicts—prearranged by the ANBU—licked their lips, eyes glinting with bloodlust.
They'd been promised a toy.
A hated toy.
Yoru wasn't just any Konoha shinobi—he was an Uchiha, a member of the Military Police.
To these men, he was the perfect outlet for their rage.
And just to make it fun…
The ANBU had loosened their seals, granting them a sliver of their former power.
"Begin," an ANBU sneered.
But Aburame Kenpei raised a hand.
"Not yet. It's broad daylight, and the situation's still volatile. Wait until nightfall."
The convicts growled but obeyed—defying the ANBU meant worse punishment.
Kenpei smirked.
"We'll take our leave."
"Uchiha Yoru… see you tomorrow."
"Assuming…"
"You live to see the sun rise."
With that, the ANBU vanished.
Leaving Yoru alone with the wolves.
They thought he was prey.
They were wrong.
The Lion Unchained
Yoru closed his eyes, reaching for the flaw he'd planted in the dual-layered seal.
A speck of chakra—insignificant, like a grain of sand in a fortress wall.
But when that grain was removed…
The entire structure crumbled.
This was the power of his Mangekyō Sharingan—
Kuebiko's Eye.
Every jutsu has a weakness.
And Kuebiko exposes them all.
Click.
Like a lock disengaging, the seals binding Yoru's chakra shattered.
The lion had slipped its chains.
Now?
He waited for nightfall.
Konoha Hospital
Uchiha Fugaku arrived with a squad of Military Police, visiting Aoki and Yamakaze.
Aoki still hadn't woken.
Yamakaze, seeing the grim expressions, knew something was wrong.
"Clan Leader… what happened to Captain Yoru?"
Fugaku forced a smile. "Focus on recovering. I'll handle it."
The evasion confirmed Yamakaze's fears.
"How's Aoki?"
"The doctors say it's up to his will to live now…"
Fugaku studied the unconscious boy's face.
"He'll wake up."
A knock at the door.
Three men entered—
Hatake Kakashi.
Yamanaka Inoichi.
Morino Ibiki.
Fugaku's pulse spiked.
Damn.
This trio represented the ANBU, Intelligence, and Torture & Interrogation.
Every investigative branch in one room.
But Fugaku quickly realized—this wasn't Hiruzen's doing.
The Hokage wanted this buried.
Which meant…
Kakashi's call.
No wonder Yoru trusted him.
That bastard's eyes see everything.
Aloud, Fugaku frowned. "You're starting already?"
Kakashi rubbed his neck. "Apologies, Clan Leader. This can't wait."
"But for fairness, I've brought Inoichi and Ibiki. No stone unturned."
Ibiki's scarred face was unreadable.
No issue there—the man lived for truth.
But Inoichi?
The Yamanaka were core allies of the Sarutobi.
Would he stay neutral?
Fugaku crossed his arms. "Aoki's in no state to talk."
*"Take Yamakaze. But on one condition."*
Kakashi tilted his head. "Name it."
"This involves both the ANBU and Military Police. Yet only the ANBU is leading the investigation."
"Unbalanced, don't you think?"
Kakashi sighed. "Fair point."
"Then I'm sending Yashiro to oversee."
A pause.
"…Agreed."
Ibiki nodded. Inoichi met Fugaku's gaze steadily.
"Reasonable."
Fugaku gave a curt nod. "Yashiro."
"Understood, Clan Leader."
Yamakaze stood, jaw set.
"I'll get justice for Aoki… and Captain Yoru."
As they left, Yakumi whispered urgently:
"Clan Leader, with Yashiro there, Yamakaze will be safe. But Yoru—"
Tetsuka cut in, frantic: "He killed Shinnosuke! The ANBU won't let him live!"
Fugaku raised a hand, silencing them.
"Yakumi, guard Aoki."
*"I'm going to the prison myself."*
