Chapter 10 - what will happen ...

The old woman with a low voice told them to stop.

Stop it, you two. He has been chosen by our goddess as the representative to change this world. He will be the Lord of Love now.

The old woman took out her necklace and handed it to Fyrel. Take this. I will pass this to you.

Fyrel took the diamond sphere necklace held by the old woman and turned it around in his hands. He rubbed it with his thumb, feeling the surface of the diamond.

What is this...? he asked curiously.

The old woman began to explain.

That diamond was given to me by the goddess as a symbol of humanity's representative from another world. The bearer of this necklace shall become the leader of all those who side with the goddess.

She suddenly bowed, and the two of them also bowed to me. He looked at them but didn't know what to do. He then put on the necklace and hid it beneath his clothes.

Stand up, all of you… I feel weird when you all act like this. Just behave normally… Besides, I already consider you all like family.

They lifted their heads and sat up straight. He sat back down at the kotatsu table.

What should I do for this world? Please explain it to me… This is my request, as your Lord. His voice suddenly became loud and clear, carrying the authority of a true lord.

The old woman introduced herself as Sukatsu, born in the 1960s in her original lifetime, while Haru was born in the 2010s before they were transferred to this world.

The old woman was the first generation, and Haru was the third generation of those transferred to this world—including me. Hwa was the only one born in this world and was the third child .

They claimed that his father (who they said was her husband) had died of old age, while the goddess would never die. However, she never returned after his death, leaving everything to the representative she chose and abandoning them just like that.

This world had been cursed by the gods, and the goddess was not the first to betray them. Before her, there was Axazil—once an angel, but after betraying the gods, they were cast out. Now, the gods had given them a choice: if they succeeded in capturing the goddess and making humanity in this world suffer, they would regain the gods' trust.

As he listened to all of that, his mind raced: Hell nah… I should pack up and leave this world right now. Who the hell wants to make enemies with a god?!

But he had to keep his cool. He hid his expression behind his fingertips, pressing them together against his face. His sharp eyes made him look like a man deep in thought.

The three of them stared at Fyrel's deadly serious face, waiting for his answer.

Hmmm… Easy. I think I can fix this. I'll help this world.

The three of them let out a relieved sigh as soon as he agreed. The tense, suffocating atmosphere in the living room finally eased.

Ahhh… Most people would've been scared and run away by now. But this time, someone says it's 'easy'? I'm proud of you, husband! Hwa gave Fyrel a thumbs-up.

He didn't know there had been representatives before him, so curiosity got the better of him. So… what happened to the ones who ran?

Haru answered instantly, Died!! Their heads always end up chopped off, and a carriage with flying horses delivers them back here. Usually, they're not even accepted by the people in this world.

Sweat dripped down Fyrel's face one drop at a time. Ohhh… Then, he muttered in his heart: Damn… I should NOT have accepted this.

Now I regret everything… I should've just stuck to reading system or harem novels and comics. That's the easy life—just work hard, get strong, and enjoy. Why did I even bother reading all those dark, twisted mystery novels just because I liked watching the MC suffer? Ugh… Goddess, please, just pick someone actually worthy—a perfect human who genuinely wants to save the world. Not some lazy bum like me. All I wanted was a normal life in this new world…

Fyrel stood on the edge of losing himself in thought, drowning in his own fate. He had the goddess's protection—a power meant to help him and the people he truly wanted to save. But there was a catch: he couldn't kill anyone. This was a fantasy world where people wielded magic and aura, yet here he was, stuck with morals in a place that might not reward them.

Hmmmmm… did this world got cigarettes? I can't thinking right now ..

Sukatsu, the old woman, suddenly touched Fyrel's hand. Her hand trembled slightly, as if she was afraid.

It's okay... you can do it. Please protect them... and my work here is done. Can you promise me that the people of this world will start to love each other? She held his hand tightly, and the skin on Fyrel's hand turned red.

In his heart, he felt heavy promising something so uncertain, but he said, I will do it... just rest for now, Grandma. She smiled weakly.

My time has come... my covenant has been severed... Those were the last words she spoke.

Suddenly, the transparent sliding door on the veranda darkened. The sunlight that had been shining into the living room vanished, plunging the space into shadow.

Fyrel looked outside—the once-clear sky had turned pitch black. The village was swallowed by darkness. Lightning began to crackle across the sky.

Sukatsu stood up from where she sat and walked out of the house without a word. Worried, the three of them followed her outside. The moment they stepped out, the wind grew violently strong, as if a storm was coming. Leaves and sand swirled violently around them, and even the humans could feel the force of the wind pushing against them.

The dark clouds began spinning rapidly, forming a massive swirling circle, with lightning striking wildly at its center.

Then, something emerged from within the vortex—a gigantic creature's head, with an elongated chin, skin that looked charred, glowing red eyes, and a mouth filled with hundreds of teeth, each as large as a house. It stretched out its enormous arms, clawed fingers tipped with long nails, and flames licked across its scorched skin.

"What the hell is that...?"
