The train screeched to a halt under a dusky sky, slicing through the silence of the sleepy town of Calrow. Lira stepped out, her boots hitting the old stone platform with a thud. Her dark eyes scanned the foggy distance. It had been five years since she left this place. She wasn't the same girl anymore. Not after what was done to her family.
In her bag, hidden beneath layers of clothes, was an old journal — her mother's last possession — and a gun with only one bullet.
She wasn't here to forgive. She came to finish a story that began with betrayal.

At the other end of town, behind the steel gates of the Vanerhill estate, Aaric stood by his office window. He felt it. A ripple in the shadows. Something had changed. The town hadn't seen action in years — not since that night when silence had bought peace at a price. But peace was a lie. And he knew lies always bled eventually.
His phone buzzed.
Unknown Number: "She's back."
His jaw clenched.
Aaric (reply): "Let her come.
I've been waiting."
