Human desires are boundless, yearning for the infinite. But, in the pursuit of eternity, humanity often teeters on the brink of its own undoing

The bell to a store front rang in the middle of a bustling crowd, as a young boy in his teens poked his head into a store and looked around.
"Mister Noland?" He called out, the sign to the door was "opened" indicating someone was in here, but at first glance he noticed no one.
"Yes, Enzo my boy, come on in" after looking around for a few seconds, an old man rushed out from the backroom of the store and beckoned the young man in. He looked somewhat in a hurry
"Heard you have a job for me?" Seeing the old man grant permission, the young boy entered and took off his dusty scarf revealing his black hair and dirt stained face as he slowly panning around the store and its treasures.
The old man Noland was an engineer, which normally was extremely lucrative. Designing and creating contraptions and devices was extremely useful along the board, especially amongst the wealthy.
But unfortunately with the big workshops all over, he had gradually been surpressed and could only attend to the poor.
"Ehhh, yes yes…I'm in a bit of a bind, I need you to help me retrieve a Zyserian crystal from Zyria…2 days worth of time is good yes?" the old man explained leading the young man Enzo to the back of the shop and down a flight of stairs.
"Ahhh, same old, same old I see" the young man smiled, he could swear that he had done this exact same mission for more than 9 times this month alone.
"No it's not the same…" Noland smiled bitterly, for the other missions he had paid the kid a measly few hours, but this one was two whole days, This was definitely much more dangerous.
In the year 2100 humanity had successfully discovered how to prolong life using weave technology (from weave tech) which tapped into the essence of human gene construction. Unfortunately, Dispite being a ground breaking descovery it placed humanity on the fast track to their own downfall.
The population exploded, food could no longer sustain them, most had to leave the planet to reduce the burden but unfortunately….society collapsed on itself, wars, nuclear fallout, and the fight for survival, (the Doom).
But humanity preserved.
"What do you mean…wait two days?" As if it had just clicked in his mind, the young man Enzo frowned.
To regulate and make sure humanity didn't fall to the same level as it did before, the company called weavetech had limited the use of its technology, no longer was immortality a thing that could be sold.
No, immortality was no longer a thing, but time was.
With the effects of nuclear fallout and radiation the life expectancy for an average human had fallen to 20, that meant that a kid like Enzo would die in about 5 years.
This was a tragedy, but of course weavetech to the rescue. With their new technologies they harnessed the immortal technology to increase the life span whosoever could afford it.
Effectively turning "time" into a commodity.
"Yes, two days" mister Noland nodded, 2 days worth of time was a lot for a simple mining operation. There was definitely a catch.
"Okay, come clean old swindler" Enzo understsnding there was something wrong, folded his hand as soon as he stepped onto the basement floor of the store. This wasn't the first time this old bastard had put his life on the line with no details, he wanted to know exactly what was going on.
He was too young to die.
Gritting his teeth, the old man removed his own scarf and hung it on a rack to the side.
"The Finor Mine has closed down after a massive collapse, all mining activity has been shifted to the Yuno mine" the old man explain feeling a gripping tenseness in his chest.
"What the hell old man? Are you trying to get me killed?!! I'm not going to the Yuno mine, that place is crawling with beasts, there's no way im going there " Enzo nearly blew a gasket, that place was a no go for low level guys like him. He would sooner die there than achieve what he needed to!!
"At least not for two days worth of pay.." after fuming he added as a coy smile appeared on his face.
"Ohhh, so you mean three days is good?" The old man smirked and pulled out a steel card with the numbers 72 written clearly on it.
This kid was a well known daredevil, in fact at his age he had no reason to be doing odd jobs like this, he probably did it for the thrill of it. Of course, that was one part of it.
"Three days….make it Four and I'll throw in an extra shard of Zyserian crystal" breaking into a smile, Enzo said trying to tempt the old man Noland.
He was nothing if not greedy.
" Four days my ass, just get it done" outrightly refusing Enzo's temptation, the old man tucked in the steel card into his pocket.
"Haha, okay old man" Enzo smiled bitterly then walking up to a metallic pod with a strange bed frame design infront of him and took off his shirt.
Daredevil, that's what they all called him. But was he really just in it for the thrill? Of course not. just like everyone else he was doing it for a better and longer life.
Climbing into the pod he laid down flat and watched it close as a sense of a sleep overwhelmed him.
[Consciousness has been dectected]
[preparing inter-planetary weave]
He felt his body grow numb as his soul was temporarily sent into a transcendent state of limbo taking him through time and space…
Planets, star dust and clusters of strange light, all invading his mind in a split second and before he knew it-
"Haaaa" he took in a large breath of air as his eyes snapped open inside a similar but different pod light years away from the planet earth.

[congratulations on a successful weave!! Welcome to planet Zyria]
